About this listen
Katelyn Winters is a mystery writer who is officially in a rut. With her editor hounding her for the next hot book, she's dug her heels into her office trying to type out something...anything! That's when life steps in and throws her some juicy tidbits; Haverford Manor. Between the old mystery of the murder that happened there years ago and its new tenants, Adam and Vickie Haverford, there's a plethora of ideas. Unfortunately, Katelyn gets in a little too deep...that's when her sister, Abby, steps in and offers a murder-mystery weekend experience. As fun as that sounds, could bad omens and ill will follow Katelyn to Winchester Estates? Has Katelyn gotten herself in a little too deep? Hopefully, she's not the one to be kidnapped!

Lies and mysteries
I really enjoyed this book, it is two books (or two parts) that make up one very good mystery. The first part of the book is told by Katelyn and two other characters as she reads a news paper article, so the story does jump around between the characters and time but there is a reason for this. The second part of story is told mainly be Katelyn and her sister Abby and is all set in the present. I think this really works for the story and I liked how it all comes together in the end. The plot for the second part of the book was unusual but the whole story grabbed your attention from the start and didn't let up. I liked the characters and even the grumpy rude writer turned out to be likeable in the end. I hope there is another book in the series.
Katelyn is struggling to come up with a new plot idea for her novel she new neighbours move into the house next door and turn her world upside down. She makes friends with the wife of the couple but not everything is as is seems. The house had a checkered past when a murder took place there and Katelyn feels there might be a story there, she looks through past articles to uncover what really happened. Little did she know that a story was unfolding little closer to home and In the present. When Vickie asks for help Katelyn and her sister Abby end up putting there lives on the line to help. After been help at gun point and still managing to catch the bad guy the sisters are offered a free place on a murder mystery weekend for writers. Strange things start happening to Katelyn as soon as she arrives. Then she goes missing, can Abby trust anyone as she tries to find out what happened to her sister? The staff seem to know more than they are telling but what about their rest of the authors? Katelyn is new to the writing scene so no body had reason to take out the competition and is is not famous enough to rake in the big bucks for ransom. So just what is the reason behind the disappearance?
I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job with all the voices needed to bring the story to life.
