About this listen

Britain's most infamous criminals: the Kray twins. The extent of their activities has always been uncertain. But now, it is time for the conclusive account of their story, from their East End beginnings, to becoming the kingpins of London's underworld.

This objective account, compiled by best-selling crime author and criminal lawyer James Morton, cuts through the conflicting versions of their stories and answers burning questions still being asked 50 years after their infamous conviction.

How was the clergy involved in evading police action? What was Charlie Kray's true position with his brothers? Just how many did they kill?

Featuring an in-depth discussion at the supposed claims they killed up to 30 and a deep dive into the death of champion boxer Freddie Mills, The Final Word compiles all previous accounts and then some to find the truth behind their legendary status.

Poor Narrating

Story was good but really poorly narrated, I had to keep rewinding due to poor punctuation and not understanding when parts of the story moved on etc

Good book but could’ve done with a better narrator.

Good insight in to the Krays lifestyle, very detailed anecdotes not just with the Krays but all their associates. I sometimes wondered if their choice of sock colour that day would be revealed.
The narrator takes a bit of getting used to, it’s like a poor impersonation of Fred Dineage. If poor impersonations are your thing then you’re in luck as the narrator does 2 more equally as poor, going by him you’d think london gangsters only ever spoke in 2 fashions, slow talking cockney or fast talking cockney.

Informative

Narrators terrible attempt at a “Cockney Accent” was distracting and made listening extremely hard going!

An honest view

I liked the fact that it was read well and that it wasn’t glamourised as has happened with other books. It is the most honest version I have read.

Kray twins 👯 murders an’all

Took me a while to get used to this narration but enjoyed overall. There seems to be a lot more detail in this version of the twins life and if it’s to be believed a lot more murder!! After reading “Our Story” I was beginning to think the Krays did a lot of good & their violence was only against other gangsters but this book puts that notion to bed!!!

Deadly twosome

This book is a fascinating account of the lives of the two Kray brothers. It explains how they were shaped in their early life and the violence and crimes that follows them also the fascinating with the public in their story.

Poor Storytelling

very poor narrator. needed to be authentic orator. his East End accent was very poor. Got bored very quickly and felt I was just listening to a list of names and places.

Dont Bother

I only got through the first 2 chapters and totally switched off. Its nothing new on this subject and was poorly narrated.
Why the narrator kept trying to talk in false london accents was totally off putting.
