About this listen
Antarctica, June 6th, 1998: 23-year-old Matt Lewis has just started his dream job: an observer aboard a deep-sea fishing boat. As the crew haul in their lines for the day, the waves seem bigger than usual - they are casting shadows on the deck. A storm is brewing. What follows is an astonishing story of courage and tragedy. Lewis leads the escape onto three life rafts, where the battle for survival begins.

Incredible story for the whole family
If you could sum up Last Man Off in three words, what would they be?
rivetting, gripping, informative
Who was your favorite character and why?
Matt Lewis - he was the main character and he tells an incredible story.
Which character – as performed by Malcolm Hamilton – was your favourite?
Matt Lewis. Malcolm Hamilton did an excellent job, but being a South African myself we had a good laugh at the numerous South African accents he attempted - they are very hard to get right!
Any additional comments?
This audio book has had my whole family gripped - even my 11 and 14 year old sons. Such an incredible story and it is hard to stop listening. It made a long car trip fly by way too quickly.

A bit of a curate's egg
The description of the fishing was excellent.
I had little sympathy for the author who was much too self centred

Excellent first hand account of when it all goes totally sideways
Very enthralling account of disaster striking with the hopelessness of the vast southern ocean in winter, I enjoyed every word and would highly recommend

Very good reading
Excellent book and very true as I was one of the Royal Engineers on South Georgia and I made the cross for those lost at sea. I also made the plaque with the life jacket on it that the survivors signed.

Last man off
Boring and repetitive, keep hearing the 6th of June and the time. Over and over.
