About this listen
Last Summer of the Drive-In Movies is a baby boomer coming-of-age/love story/fictionalized memoir about two teenage boys who worked at one of the last drive-in movie theaters in Corpus Christi, Texas, during the summer of 1973 and their first serious romances. Author Bob Gunner has captures the essence of that special summer between junior high and high school, when movies, music, and maturing provided them with life lessons and paved their way to coming adulthood.

Entertaining- good clean fun!
This book was entertaining to listen to, and a good, clean story- which is hard to find in this day and age! It took me back to the era of drive-in movies, when life (and love) was simpler. I listened to it on a flight across the country, and it made the time go by quickly and painlessly. I recommend for anyone wanting a taste of nostalgia.

Nostalgic
Now this was a bit of a trio down memory lane for me.
For starters I loves the narrations voice and fluency, such an easy listen.
Navigating romances at a movie theatre just brought back so many memories for me.

Coming of age delight
I really enjoyed listening to Bucky's teenage years in the heart of Texas. He moved to texas after his parent's divorce with his family only to treated horribly by his step dad. He finds solace with his best friend Pug when they start a part-time job at the local theatre. They go through love and heart ache as they meet their first loves in their lives. This is the summer they grow up and discover who they are.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy
A nostalgic summer of roller skating, drive-ins, friendship, and young love. This novel takes place in simpler times without mobile technology, where what played on the radio and catching up with friends or your crush on the landline payphone down the road was the teenage obsession by day and hanging out at the drive-in at night. Although so different to our modern times, the challenges of navigating family dynamics, awkward coming of age in friendship and blossoming love are universally similar. A recommended relaxing and entertaining listen.

Beautiful coming of age story
This story feels so real I had to check to see if it wasn't a memoir, the writing feels totally authentic and really captures the feel of the time, If you want to get a feel of teenage life in small-town America before Netflix, mobile phones and endless TV, this gives you that authentic vibe. Loved it!

The good old days!
My review really doesn’t do the book justice now but I listen to it back, because they go through growing pains with love in school and friends and those who aren’t friends etc just know it’s worth reading. It is so more like a story and less like a biography.Bob Gunnerson, Better known as Bucky move from East Texas all the way to West Texas after his mom and dad divorced. Him his sister Rose and his sister Doris OK to put up with his drunk and belligerent stepdaddy. So when he got a job at the drive-in movies across the street from the trailer they lived in. He was a static and he even got his best friend pug a job there as well. This book is all about Bucky growing up in this West Texas town and the friends he had the summer of 1973 while working at the drive-in. Although Mr. Gunnarsson he’s older than I, I can still feel the generation he is talking about and miss those days as well. This is a great book and one I highly recommend. Please forgive any grammatical or punctuation or errors as I am blind to dictate my reviews but all opinions are authentic.
