About this listen

An entertaining and wryly amusing collection of mini-essays on cricket by much-loved pundit.

From Somerset stalwart to acclaimed writer and broadcaster, Vic Marks has lived a life steeped in cricket. In Late Cut, he takes us beyond the boundary rope, sharing the parts of the game fans don't get to see, from the food served at tea-time (then: sweaty ham, now: quinoa, cranberry and feta salad) to the politics of the dressing room. With chapters on what it feels like to be dropped, how to be a good 12th man, captaincy, selection and more, this amusing and insightful collection will delight all cricket lovers.

Enjoyable

Nicely written and pretty well read by the author. A safe choice for those of us fond of Victor on TMS.

Late cuts by Vic Marks

Narration superb. Content excellent. A delightful, if idiosyncratic journey around the world of English cricket from a master observer.

Always interesting

Not the usual cricket book. Instead Vic Marks provides some interesting insights into a series of topics from team selection to food. Vic Marks is a quality writer and thinker around the game. An entertaining listen.

Not for me…disappointed!

After reading the reviews I thought I’d give it a go, but so disappointed from his opening chapter and political views, it never got better, and I so wanted it to be.
It was hard work and his narration began to grate, such a shame, maybe I’ll go back in a few weeks and give it another try, but I won’t hold my breath.
