About this listen
CHOSEN BY WATERSTONES AS ONE OF THEIR BEST POLITICS BOOKS OF 2024
From culture wars to clickbait, it’s fair to say that politics has lost some of its integrity, and we’ve all suffered as a result. If it hadn’t almost wrecked the country with calamitous consequences in nearly every sector of public life, it would be funny. We’ve let our standards drop – but we deserve better.
Jess Phillips believes in democracy, and the people she meets give her cause for optimism even if sometimes politicians really (really) don’t. At once a laugh-so-you-don’t-cry takedown of the state of Westminster in recent years and a rallying battle cry for bringing truth back to politics, this book will make you angry, cheer you up and give you hope.©2024 Jess Phillips (P)2024 Hodder & Stoughton Limited

Honest, straight talking account of politics
Jess is truly inspirational as a politician but also as a woman. Her belief and dedication should be the benchmark to all politicians. Well done Jess Phillips!

What an amazing woman!
As ever, Jess writes a wonderfully thought provoking book. If only all MP’s had her attitude to public service & her pragmatic approach which, unlike many, is a feat of substance over style. I just hope the electorate give her 10 years to do her job, because she will surely succeed.

Blunt and genuine
Jess comes across as a bit blunt, but in such a way which makes you think about your own actions, as well as what you think of politicians. Looking at this through the lens of VAWG couldn’t be more important and her passion is inspirational.

An inspirational and informative book for all progressives
A wonderfully truthful approach that should be a blue print for the ruling classes.
Her work is a social imperative and her approach is intelligent and measured. My approach to male violence would be a draconian shock and awe campaign of reckoning/reciprocity/revenge Tommy Shelby style.
