George Horace Lorimer is best known as the editor of The Saturday Evening Post, where he was credited with promoting and discovering authors like Jack London.
Lorimer compiled his life advice into the fictional letters from John "Old Gorgon" Graham to his son Pierrepont. John Graham is a Chicago-based pork and finance baron. In the letters Pierrepont receives advice for his different stages of life.
Old Gorgon's advice is packed throughout the book, easy to understand, and still rings true today.

Yes! Very educational!
Would you consider the audio edition of Letters from a Self-Made Merchant to His Son Being the Letters Written by John Graham to be better than the print version?
A lot of thoughtful life lessons given in a humorous way. Knowing that this is written in 1890, a lot of life truths must have started with this book. Interesting to take part of more than 120 years old knowledge that still is so up to date. Everyone should read this for his/hers upbringing.
Who was your favorite character and why?
We hear the fathers voice reading his interesting and educational letters to his son.
What about Alan Taylor’s performance did you like?
The narrater has a nice, calm voice that makes you listen with interest.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I have listened to this book in one sitting, but I want to listen to it ones more. I know that listening to it ones more will help me to capture more of this wisdom.
