Summary
A family secret catapults Rory into a magical library - and a new life she never knew she wanted.
Bookshop assistant Aurora "Rory" Hawthorn thinks reality will never be as interesting as fiction. Content to spend her time escaping into a good book to escape her micromanaging boss, the very last thing she expects is to be cornered by a group of terrifying strangers hunting down a journal that belonged to her late father.
It turns out Dad was keeping a secret or two...most importantly, that he was a wizard, and that Rory has a hidden magical family she's never met. When her witchy relatives invite her to live with them in their enchanted library, it's literally a dream come true.
Until she stumbles upon a dead body hidden behind a bookshelf.
Juggling a new family and job would be enough of a challenge without also having to deal with a murder mystery, cranky familiars, and the attention of the local reaper - even if he is the hottest guy in town.
It's up to Rory to embrace her new witchy powers to help catch a killer before she loses the new life she never knew she wanted.

süß, aber in sich manchmal nicht schlüssig
die Charaktere sind süß und die Story an sich auch interessant, hat aber mehrere Lücken und unlogische Verläufe.

Loved it!
I thoroughly enjoyed these first three books and Sylvester the Owl made me chuckle throughout - his sarcastic comments, the names he calls Rory etc. It's nice to see different characters in the story asides from the usual Witches and Vampires and who doesn't love a talking familar. Hollis McCarthy did a great job of bringing the book and characters to life. Looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

Move over Harry Potter there is a new witch
I loved this audio book and what is even better, with this box set you get three spell binding adventures in one book and each book is better than the last . I love the fact that most of the drama and high jinks takes place in a library, a place any book lover can relate to. In some ways the story made me think of Harry Potter the way the library room or staircases moved around or just disappeared but there the similarities ended and the author has come up with her own unique magical world that just draws you in. It is a nice mix of magical chaos, learning and mystery but it is the characters that really made the books fun for me, from the newbie Liberian, to the talking familiar, to even the budding romance with the reaper. Will definitely be getting more audio books by this author and I am so glad I discover her.
Spells and shelves. -A nice introduction to the series and how the library works.
Aurora or Rory to her few friends is about to have her world turned upside down. When a group of vampires attack her, demanding her dad's journal, she learns that her father was hiding more than just how to read the book. She comes from a long line of witches and when her newly discovered aunt invites her to come and work at the family library, she jumps at the chance. That is until she discovers a dead body griping a library book and then she wonders if she as made a mistake. Being new on the scene the police look at her and soon Rory discovers that dealing with a misbehaving library, a moody cousin and a cranky familiar is the easiest part of her job. Can she find the killer and break a curse?
Charms and chapters.
While helping her moody cousin to release one of her unusual pets back into the wild Rory discovers a dead body with bite marks in his neck. Already afraid of vampires after her last in counter with a rogue group the last thing she wants to do is deal with the leader of the group. But she will have to learn how to deal with them or stop them from reading her mind quickly if she wants to.find the killer.
Sorcery and stories -My favourite book.
Things in the library get even more chaotic when characters from her aunt's books start coming to life. Her aunt being a biblical witch has written a lot of books in a variety of genre's but can Rory find the culprit before the library gets to the horror novels? With the rest of her family trapped in the curse Rory will have to fight or learn to deal with no gravity, romancing knight's and even werewolves on her own if she hopes to keep the library open and all with our having found a wand that is right for her. There always said the pen was mighter than the sword but what about a wand?
I liked the narrator and thought she did an excellent job with all three books in bringing the characters to life, luckily not quite like in Book three.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
