Summary
They think they are safe at home. Someone knows better. When a body is found in a locked house, Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniel is left to not only find the killer but discover how they got in and out. With little in the way of leads and a journalist who seems to know more about the case than she does, Jessica is already feeling the pressure - and that's before a second body shows up in identical circumstances to the first.
How can a murderer get to victims in seemingly impossible situations and what, if anything, links the bodies?

Great Plot!
Great Plot. The narration really suited the characters and the story was narrated at just the right pace. Woukd certainly buy further audiobooks by this author or narrated by this narrator.
If you like crime, strong female MCs and easy to listen to narration, you'll like this book.

Enjoyable Just
I thought the narrator who in some reviews got a bit of a pasting was good.
I liked the characters especially the main character Jessica but the story let it down.
I do not know if I will try a second book in the series

Great story, poor reading....
The story is entertaining and enthralling, however the reading is very monotone. The lack of different voices or intonation for the different characters can make some sections more confusing to listen to as it is difficult to follow who is speaking. Purchased as part of BYGOF deal so not too disappointed overall, however not worth full price.

Simply Brilliant!
There is a previous reviewer on here who marked this book down because s/he didn't like the way it was narrated; said that it was read like a mother reading to a child! I wish my mother had read to me in that manner! My solution was to play the sample to see if I could handle the voice, style and, story. I'm glad that I did!
If you are a fan of the Peter James 'Roy Grace' novels, then, in DS Jessica Daniel, is a Manchester equivalent, in terms of style, procedures, characters and complexity/simplicity of story.
Many previous reviewers said that they didn't have a clue during the collection of evidence, who the perpetrator could be. It was that well written. The irony is, that even the author told us about it: misdirection! Simply Brilliant! Enjoy!

Reasonable story.
Reasonable story. Would recommend but the narration was a barrier. It felt like I was a child being read a story by an aunt. No acting, no intonation. Plot good...but resented the tone.
