First drink. First prank. First friend. First love. Last words.

Miles Halter is fascinated by famous last words - and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet François Rabelais called the “Great Perhaps”. Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young, who will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.

Looking for Alaska brilliantly chronicles the indelible impact one life can have on another. A modern classic, this stunning debut marked number one best-selling author John Green’s arrival as a groundbreaking new voice in contemporary fiction.

Critic reviews

"What sets this novel apart is the brilliant, insightful, suffering but enduring voice of Miles Halter." (Chicago Tribune)

"A gem of modern literature." (Guardian)

"What sings and soars in this gorgeously told tale is Green’s mastery of language and the sweet, rough edges of Pudge’s voice." (Kirkus)

Nice listen

Story is good, but the narrator could do better with the character's voices. Still worth a listen.

Awsome book

Loved the book, and a big fan of Wil Wheaton, although his girl voice could do with some work 😂

Genuinely Moving.

I laughed. I cried. I contemplated my life. This book really left its mark. It feels so honest, so real and for me, relatable. From the last 50 books I've read, I think I'll remember and consider this one more than any other. I wish I could unread it, just to read it again for the first time. Recommended.

Wholesome…

Not what I generally read, I picked it more or less at random…

The story is very good, the characters feel lightly on the caricature side of realistic. Very good mix of coming of age, mischief and philosophy

The narration is sublime!

Good but emotional

This book is good but with a sad twist. It is very inspiring, motivating, funny and sad but a really good book all round.

Great book. Great narration

I loved this book and Will Wheaton narrated it really well by voicing characters differently. I highly recommend this book

An emotional rollercoaster

My first audible book and not one I would ordinarily have chosen but I really enjoyed it. I laughed, I cried and when it was all over, I hugged my wife. I will probably choose to have Wil Wheaton read more to me in future.
