About this listen

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole continues her electrifying Immortals After Dark series with this thrilling tale, revealing secrets of the Lore, fierce realm of the immortals....

All fear the enemy of old.

Driven by his insatiable need for revenge, Lothaire, the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, plots to seize the Horde’s crown. But bloodlust and torture have left him on the brink of madness - until he finds Elizabeth Peirce, the key to his victory. He captures the unique young mortal, intending to offer up her very soul in exchange for power, yet Elizabeth soothes his tormented mind and awakens within him emotions Lothaire believed he could no longer experience.

A deadly force dwells within her.

Growing up in desperate poverty, Ellie Peirce yearned for a better life, never imagining she’d be convicted of murder - or that an evil immortal would abduct her from death row. But Lothaire is no savior, as he himself plans to sacrifice Ellie in one month’s time. And yet the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with wealth and sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, Ellie surrenders her body to the wicked vampire, while vowing to protect her heart.

Centuries of cold indifference shattered.

Elizabeth tempts Lothaire beyond reason, as only his fated mate could. As the month draws to a close, he must choose between a millennia-old blood vendetta and his irresistible prisoner. Will Lothaire succumb to the miseries of his past - or risk everything for a future with her?

Another scorcher !

Love this series . Robert Petkoffs narration is a class act . I feel he would make a telephone directory sound sexy .
The whole Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole are narrated by Petkoff so a good series is made an excellent series . Well worth the credit . In fact I purchased extra to listen to more of the series as just one book a month wasn't going to be enough ...

My second favourite IAD book

I loved this book. Lothaire was everything I expected him to be. His humour and arrogance tickles me. Elizabeth, the heroine, was an amazing match for him. She was ballsy and gave as good as she got. I lost count of the amount of times I laughed my head off. I also loved that we got to see a little bit of Nix's and Lothaires past interactions. I just adore Nix.

What can I say about the narrator, Robert Petkoff, other than he's unbelievable. His narration is just outstanding in this series. Amazing narrator.

Oh, Lothaire!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Of course I recommend this Audiobook. We waited an age for LOTHAIRE and I had to buy the Hardback because I couldn't wait for the paperback but now I have this and I am so pleased that now I have the set!
Robert Petkoff is a delightful narrator and these books would not be the same without him; his characterization of each person is second to none and the lovely Russian accent is spine tingling. He can do any accent that may be called for and we believe it gladly.

What did you like best about this story?

As I enjoyed all the other books leading to this one I was well disposed to love this one, too.
It was 'The Enemy of Old', so who cannot love him?

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

Robert Petkoff is just brilliant! I am very wary of American accents and I think the women who narrate many of these Paranormal favourites of mine actually spoil the books; they require a very talented male voice like the above narrator.

Lothaire: Immortals after Dark

The book is very cleaverly writen with lots of twists and keeps you entertained all the way to the end. Robert Petkoff narrates the book to the N degree, he adds so much to the characters with his voice and style. I just can not wait to have a nother book narrated by him. A realy good combination of writting and reading.

learn tto trust your inner voice

i love all the Kresley Cole books so far, I enjoy learning more about the new characters and the lore having been brought up with the paranormal being Wiccan by belief I'm more open than some although some would say gullible or crazy. throughout these stories they have one thing in common, learning to trust your gut instinct no matter how unlikely. Never judge a book by its cover. I know from my own experience that when ever I have gone against my gut instinct I have come a cropper ( something bad has happened ) The one thing I know for sure is that if these kind of being ever became known to humans for want of a better description they would fear them so want to destroy them. What they don't understand they can't control, what they can't control is a threat. I wish I had the courage to write a book however my knowledge of full stops paragraphs and other essential literacy skills, leave a lot to be desired. This would also apply to travellers from other worlds and people with skills that would come under the label of paranormal no might whether they were good or dark it would not matter Military would want to use them religious people destroy them, Head doctors lock them away as insane as I said what they can't understand. So no different than the burning times of the medieval period in time. I like how Kresley builds the characters you feel you know them and can imagine what they look like how they would react to different situations even understand their fears this is a skill in itself.

As delicious as I remember

I’m rereading this series as audiobooks and DAMN, Lothaire is just as good as I remember thinking it was. Even with the guaranteed happy ending, I was still on the edge of my seat, wondering how these two would ever get together.

Lothaire and Ellie are two of my favorite characters in the series, and their chemistry is sometimes hilarious and always HOT!
