About this listen
“Don’t be ridiculous. There was nothing to steal. I was always yours.”
Every important thing in Dmitri Williams’ life has come and gone along the narrow roads and tall mountain peaks of Cherry Creek.
Dmitri wants love, but he’s not quite sure he’ll ever find it. His sexuality is confusing on a good day, and the one person he wants is the one friend who can never know how he feels. Raphael Meyer is older, charming, and better looking than Dmitri will ever deserve - and somehow, he thinks Dmitri is worth his time.
Dmitri knows he will never be worthy, so he puts all of his efforts into making sure Raphael finds someone who will adore him as much as he deserves. Even if it destroys his heart in the process. And no matter what his friends keep saying, Dmitri isn’t sure he’ll ever believe that Raphael returns his feelings.
It’s the makings of star-crossed lovers, because Dmitri has never believed in happily-ever-afters. But, in the end, Raphael might just have enough desperate hope for the both of them.

Amazing!
I really, really enjoyed this audiobook. Raphael has been a complex character throughout this series and it was so worthwhile to finally get his entire story, and Dmitri was perfect for him. My only gripe is that I wanted a bit more time with them together!! They just fit so well.
Definitely listen or read this series, each book is fantastic!

Stunning! The best!
Oh my God this was amazing! Definitely my favourite in the series! My heart just melted with those two. I really really loved reading about their journey. It was beautiful and heartwarming and even though some parts broke my heart it was so worth it. I couldn't stop listening. The asexual representation was fantastic. We need more books like this one. I highly highly recommend it! And the narrator did an excellent job voicing the characters and bringing their story to life.

Another exploration of unique characters
Story: Unique characters are a trademark in E.M. Lindsey's books and Love Him Desperate is another great example. This time we delve into the areas of asexuality and living with cerebral palsy. As usual for this author, the approach to the themes and MC's personalities is top notch, full of senstivity, but coupled with brutal honesty and very realistic view on life.
The pacing of the story was a bit of an issue for me in places as I struggled with keeping my attention. Compared to other On the Market books, I had more of a hard time in connecting with the characters in the beginning, but it was a temporary problem. All in all, it's a very well written story.
Narration: Stellar performance as always, even with the additional challenge of heavily accented bits.

Ending on a high note
I've loved this entire series, but this one was special. Nothing breaks my heart quicker than a story where the two guys can't believe the other cares for them and valiantly tries to help the person he loves find someone "good enough". Dmitri and Raphael are perfect for that story. They made me so sad as I rooted for them to just open their hearts, take a flying leap and trust the other to catch them. When they finally did, oh my.....Nick Hudson was so good here. His performance was heartbreaking and then his performance of the dawning joy when they start to realize they can have it all was brilliant.

Great
Another great addition to the series by EM Lindsey. Love all the characters I have met from the small town. Dmitri and Raphael have a unique and interesting story to tell. A slow burn that ends with that gooey feeling. Nick Hudson did a super job with the voices. A series to be followed.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A delightful, slow-burn romance
The first time I read this story I wasn't a big fan, but listening to the audio made me appreciate it in new ways. Nick Hudson truly made Dmitri and Raphael come alive for me, and hearing the emotion behind all the words on paper transformed this romance into something uniquely special.
Though I've read other slow-burn romances by this author, something about the way Dmitri and Raphael circled each other for years felt different to me. Maybe it was because of Raphael's no-strings hookups with Birdie, or maybe it was because both Dmitri and Raphael went through the motions of getting over each other and seeing other people. Maybe it's because so much of this story focused on Dmitri and Raphael's personal journies instead of their romantic relationship. All I know is that these men came about as close to breaking apart as I've ever seen, and it made my heart ache in deep, unexpected ways. It was difficult to listen to Dmitri and Raphael quietly long for each other and not do anything about it for years, and for a while I genuinely couldn't see a happy ending to their story. I wish the catalyst for their confessions hadn't been so traumatic, but I'll admit that I was relieved to see these two finally be brave and honest with each other.
I think what threw me off about this story the first time I read it was how absent the romance was compared to some of the other books. Yes, Dmitri and Raphael built a wonderful friendship together, but for so long there were no signs of them growing that into something more emotionally intimate. On the one hand, I understand that Dmitri was still in the middle of his own self-growth journey and wasn't ready for Raphael, but I wish I could have seen more of their "happily-ever-after". There was so much buildup to getting these two together, and instead of getting to savor the happiness of them finally finding their way to each other this story just ended. At least all the speculation about Kyle finally came to an end, and Cherry Creek is much better off without him around.

Tender Love
Love Him Desperate is the fifth, and last book in the On the Market series, but it doesn’t feel like the end of a series – more like the beginning of new possibilities. The romance is gentle and slow, growing naturally as Dimitri and Raphael become closer. I really liked how each man develops as the story goes on, finding their happiness and believing in the love they have for each other. There is a lot of angst in this story, but it’s balanced out nicely with tenderness and affection that all the characters have for each other.
The audiobook was narrated by Nick Hudson who narrated all the books in the On the Market series. Nick was the perfect choice to narrate this series. His voice is versatile and expressive -- fitting each character with consistent precision. This story flowed gently – there were no big firework moments, instead the story has the pull of a strong current that swept me up. The audiobook narration felt smooth and engaging, and was the perfect choice for long, leisurely walks.

Emotionally compelling
Beautiful, heartbreaking story.
Loved poor Dimitri and Raphael.
The love they have for each other was able to withstand the horrors of their past to propel them into a brilliantly shining future.
Nick Hudson did a superb job.

touching...and so much more!!
...and cue book (& emotional) hanger!
I'm having a hard time finding the words to describe this one. So much is weaved into this story. If you've ever had to deal with people's perceptions, anger, feeling insignificant, or any number of other painful moments, then this story will be that much more emotional, heartbreaking, poignant, and wonderful!
Dimitri stole my heart completely. He's been through so much and is so much stronger than people ever knew. He is "painted" with a certain brush that was never really him and he always tried to rise above it. He's sweet, so very caring and longing to be loved for who he is, as he is. it's amazing how rare that sort of love is and Dimitri's journey to his HEA is hard, sad, confronting, and challenging but he finally got the love he'd longed for. Dimitri is part of my heart and will be for so very long.
I loved Raphael in previous stories and I loved his "no shit" attitude. He never let things hold him back, pigeonhole him or stop him from taking the leap. He's a little rough around the edges but he has such a big heart that has loved and lost to the point of mistrust and fear. I never really noticed the age difference between him and Dimitri, they were soul mates and truly felt like two pieces of a puzzle.
I'm sad that Cherry Creek stories have come to an end but I'm so thankful I got to visit. these stories will stay with me and remind me that there's a place out there somewhere for everyone and everyone deserves a chance to heal and find love. These stories, characters, and town is truly something special and I couldn't love them more. Thanks for creating magic E, your boys are loved!
