Summary

An unforgettable story about love in all its chaotic glory from the author of Last One at the Party.

The convention of a book synopsis is fundamentally ridiculous. How can I adequately convey in only 150 words the complexity and bewilderment of the past 10 months and the effect the events that occurred have had on my perfectly regulated existence?

One would need much longer to record in detail how I was blackmailed into demonstrating the efficacy of my soulmate programme and forced to participate in a series of ridiculous dates. How my life has been forever altered as a consequence.

Prior to this, I was driven and focused, consumed with work, destined to change the world with my brilliance. I had no family, no friends and no need for frivolous human connection. I was systemic and solitary, a woman with one goal.

I am that person no longer.

My name is Indiana Dylan, and this is the story of how I fell in love.

There: 150 words precisely.

Such likeable characters you really care about.

I wasn't too sure about the theme of the book but gave it a try having loved "the last one at the party" by this author. I'm so glad I did as I really enjoyed it and became quickly invested in the characters and their lives. Really well narrated too.

I loved this book!

I read this because I loved the authors previous novel "Last one at the party", and I will carry on looking out for the authors work.

This was a story about love, loss and family and I highly recommended it to anyone. The characters and plot where original and the narration was great too.

The only negative I have with it (and the reason I gave it 4 not 5 stars) is that the main character Indiana reads to me very much like a neurodivergant person at the beginning of the story, but not so much at the end. This might be me bringing my biases into play but it reads a bit like the story of someone who is different from the norm, who doesn't fit in, but gets "better". If you can overlook this, it's an excellent story.

What makes us human

A story of love, life and what makes us human.
A story told through three distinct and equally engaging characters.
A plot full of unexpected twists and turns.

Another hit from Bethany Clift

The narrators are so good, they make you care about the characters from the first few lines and Bethany Clift just keeps getting better. I laughed, I cried, I didn't want it to end.

Speechless. Simply stunning book.

After reading Last One at the Party I knew this was a completely different genre but loved the authors style so much I had to give this book a go. The story had me gripped from start to finish and I laughed and cried throughout in equal measure. Yet another triumph for Bethany Clift. Highly recommend this book.
