About this listen
"This book was easy to fall into and felt so good around my heart. I really enjoyed it!" (Getting Your Read On)
"Readers will be pleased with this gentle romance...." (InD'Tale Magazine)
Two broken hearts. One more chance for love.
After surviving a difficult marriage, Victoria Newel needs a clean slate for herself and her son. Taking a job as a math teacher, she moves across the country to the small town of Lincoln, Utah, where no one knows her and she can start over. However, her new colleague, Drew Dalton, offers her friendship and maybe something more. But has her heart healed enough that she could trust again?
Drew Dalton lost his wife to cancer years ago and he locked his heart away, throwing himself into his teaching job. But when Victoria Newel starts working at the high school, she awakens something in him that he never thought he’d feel again. Her gentle nature and quiet strength draws him to her, but it’s obvious she’s hiding something in her past from him. Can he open his heart to a woman who harbors so many secrets of her own?

Beautiful story of redemption and second chances
Love's Broken Road was a beautiful story of redemption and a second chance at love. Ms. Victoria (Tori) Newel and Drew Dalton are both widow and widower respectively, though their backgrounds couldn't have been more different (she comes from an abusive relationship, he was the "married high school sweetheart" kind). I loved how supportive and encouraging Drew was with her, as well as how resilient and strong Tori was in building a new life for her and her son. There's certainly drama (they're both HS teachers, so it's both from their students as much as their lives), but there's also a beautiful community, new friends, and learning how to deal with some unresolved issues from their pasts in a graceful and mature way.
The narrator was really good with the voices and bringing the characters to life. She did great with all the voices (from kids to senior ones, as well as both male and female). I loved how one could know who was speaking, and how neatly she nailed the nuances: from worry and fear to happiness, excitement, and everything in between.
Overall, a clean/sweet contemporary romance that deals with heavy topics (abuse, bullying, loss of a loved one) in a respectful and graceful way. Perfect for fans of the author, the genre, or for people looking for a community-based story. ~ 5 stars!
