Summary

Die verarmte Witwe Frau von Murska zieht mit ihren beiden Töchtern verarmt in die Wiener Innenstadt. Hier möchte sie die Geldbeutel eines reichen Onkels ein wenig lockern. Doch dieser bleibt den drei weiblichen Wesen verschlossen, da der Onkel keine Frauen mag. So versucht die Witwe ihre schöne Tochter Arabella an den reichen polnischen Grafensohn Wladimir zu verkuppeln. Doch Arabella zeigt Wladimir die kalte Schulter. Voller Verzweiflung verkleidet sie ihre jüngere, etwas knabenhaft aussehende Tochter Lucile als Jungen und nennt sie Lucidor. Doch Lucidor hat kein Glück bei dem reichen Onkel. Lucidor freundet sich mit Wladimir an und wird als Lucile seine Geliebte. Doch löst das die Geldsorgen der Mutter?
