Story
The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

Summary
After failing to completely close The Rift, Lusam and Neala travel south in search of the illusive Pearl Isle, where they hope to discover the fourth Guardian book, and return in time to try again. Time, however, is not on their side, as the dark God, Aamon, sets in motion a plan to restore his own power, and once again tear open The Rift to unleash the horrors of the Netherworld upon their world.
Aysha's new inability to see his destiny, along with her prophetic warnings about a hidden realm and Neala's certain death if she enters it, all weigh heavily on Lusam's mind. Old friendships are rekindled, and new ones forged along the way, some more strange than they could ever have imagined. And a new discovery is made, one so profound that it will change Lusam's life forever, as well as rewrite the very history of Afaraon.

better than others
I've listened to all in the series so far. I think it's the narrator that I'm having issues with, every single obstacle the narrator reads at as it is the end of the world the sky is falling in oh my goodness. no matter how small the battle is the narrator reads it as it's the end of the times. I almost think he's going to read it and lt is the end of all things and it is actually Lusam going to the bathroom and is constipated. Not all fights need to be read in that way. "The sky is falling the sky is falling" oops it's just a few drop! That's how I feel every hardship that Lusam or anyone else experience is played out in the series.

A wonderful adventure, not a single boring moment, beautifully written and narrated exceptionally well. This series was written to be narrated by this particular narrator. I read a few mumblings about the editing of this book. Well, in my opinion, this book as well as the others in the series was edited flawlessly. Everyone who had anything to do with this series, did their job quite well indeed!

excellent continuation, Spoiler alert.
I loved it! it was an amazing book just like the previous 4 have been. The only negative I can think of is the author's idea of a separate realm or dimension with slower time. Luke the time chamber in DBZ it's a good concept, however, it was executed with a massive flaw. within the hidden realm a day should take a couple minutes in the outer realm. Thus 6 months in the hidden realm would only be a few days outside right? Arlo uses this theory to explain how he is still alive after 2000 years. That's the issue though. that's 2000 years on the outside. which should be around 73,000 years in the hidden realm... though I might be getting my math wrong it would still be well over 20,000 years regardless. which should make Arlo a pile of bones or dust if anything at all...
That said I don't really care if it adds up perfectly or not because I loved his addition to the book.
