About this listen

Traffic is at a standstill on the road into the city, and temperatures are already in the '40s. While everyone succumbs to exhaustion, one woman bears the burden of trying to keep everyone else alive. Even if it means keeping them in the dark about where they’re really going.

Great!

Read the story before this audio book was out and loved it, but to hear it narrated by Stephanie montalvo was a treat. It seems she really got to know the writing and narrated it wonderfully! Look forward to more!

Hit the mark

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it once more: I don’t like open endings. I was, however, quite pleased with this one because the entire story had been building towards...something, I won’t say...but in keeping with the strange nature of the story, the ending fitted quite...nicely.

The narrator is deeply pleasant to listen to, and has a very youthful energy, her voice is makes words pop and made even the darker portions of the story, there were quite a few, enjoyable to hear.

Good

Feel like the story should have been longer or shorter. Was a weird one. Liked it though!

A weird tale

This was an interesting but weird short story especially for those who like stories from the Twilight Zone. It's a little strange and I have to be honest and say I was a little confused from the start and still puzzled at the end. I didn't really figure out quite what was going on.

I kept thinking "ok so there's a traffic jam, nothing's moving and the nearest town is a good few miles away but why would people give up and die rather than make that walk." I could cover further than that in half a day and clearly these people have been there a lot longer than that. It just didn't make much sense to me.

Then there's the question of why the main character is in charge of organising everything, what's so special about her that everyone seeks her advice, opinion and help?

Not at all what I expected and to be honest, not something I'd bother recommending to friends. The narrator did a good job.

I received a free copy of this audiobook either from the author/narrator or a promotion or giveaway and am voluntarily writing an honest and unbiased review.
