Summary

Males look to be served. Men look to be of service. Emmy Award-nominated actor best known for his role on Queen Sugar and transformational speaker Dondré Whitfield challenges us to be real men in this provocative look at the power found in serving others.

Too many males abuse the power they have.

Often those males grow up without healthy role models and so, while they look like men, they act like boys. Only now there are adult consequences to their actions.

And many of us are caught in the shifting cultural ideas about manhood, unsure of how to make sound decisions or truly be a man. Every day we find evidence that the role of men at home, at work, and out in the world is deeply misinterpreted.

In Male vs. Man, Dondré Whitfield equips us to become men rather than simply "grown males." Men are healthy and productive servant-leaders who bring positive change to their communities. Males are self-serving and stuck in negative cycles that we hear and read about daily. They create chaos instead of cultivating calm.

Male vs. Man is an uplifting playbook for men who want to level up. It will help men and women alike understand what real manhood is, based on biblical wisdom as well as hard-earned lessons from someone who has been there. With practical guidance and a strong spiritual foundation, Dondré shows how to cultivate the life-changing spiritual, emotional, and psychological attributes of servant leadership at home, at work, and in our communities.

Male Vs Man speaks to your Soul 🙌🏾🔥

Deondre congratulations for capturing not only the information of what it means to be a man, but how to be a man with great soul. I found myself consistently saying Amen, as you literally spoke on things I tell myself and others most days. Especially my 9 year old son. This book is an epitome of what is to be a Man of God and as I just listened to The Man God has for me by Stephan Labossiere, before listening to this one. My weekend was filled with even more understanding, appreciation, faith and practice. Thank you for making my weekend in December 2020 a service to remember. Keep being amazing and serving the good Lord in order to serve us all well. Amen👏🏾✊🏾🙏🏾🔥.

Men or Women, prepare to have your mind blown!

This is an awesome book! I would recommend this for women as well as men. I certainly learnt a thing or two from the author and challenged too. But

Useful for young men and women...

...especially during formative years of a relationship. Interesting perspective/ insight into how men think and why they may behave the way they do. I could think of examples of males who fit some of the narratives Whitfield describes. He's inclusive in the examples he uses. His narration is easy to follow and voice is easy to listen to. Many biblical scripture references throughout. If you're not Christian or believe in God, this may put you off. Question not really explores here though: if a grown male fathers a male child (biologically) but himself has many unresolved issues stemming from absentee father and toxic mother, what can be done to provide the son/ child with best chance of receiving positive input/ teaching to ensure that he grows up to be a healthy, well-balanced man? Even the most nurturing and present mother isn't enough - according to Whitfield.

Amazing insights

This book provided great insights into the human mind of emotion and reasoning based on trauma, recovery and understanding. It evoked my thinking so often that I had to repeat parts of the chapters, reflection and applying what I heard sent me on a journey. Overall fantastic book that is a valuable resource for our lives.

Fantastic Book!

This is a tremendous book on manhood, built out of a personal account as well as wisdom from other men, touching physical, mental and spiritual aspects of a person. Thoroughly impressed.
