Summary

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

Mansfield Park is the third published and perhaps most subtle of Jane Austen's novels. It tells the story of Fanny Price, who, at the age of 10, is sent from her impoverished household to live with her wealthy aunt and uncle and be raised alongside her cousins. Fanny grows up as a misfit, not truly a member of the Bertram family, but too genteel to feel comfortable with her parents.

In this production, The Online Stage presents a fully dramatized version of Mansfield Park.

Sorry, not my cup of tea

I love Jane Austen, but I found the narration, the pronunciation of names and nearly all the accents really irritating which spoilt this adaptation of the book.

A judgemental and somewhat harsh novel

I love Jane Austen, but despite her wit and the quality of the writing. this novel is difficult to like. Full of moral indignation, and with a heroine, unless Jane Austin is satirising her, spends most of her time blushing, looking down, and remaining silent. I like the format of a narrator interspersed with dialogue. I thought Mrs Norris wonderful, and Fanny did come to life towards the end, when she actually sounded indignant. But the readings could have been better.
