About this listen

Legionnaire is a gritty high fantasy series set on the borders of the far-flung Republic of Aquila. While political in-fighting and scheming are the order of the day in the heart of the Republic, the borderlands are awash with dangers, only kept in check by the might of the legions.

Fell magics, savage peoples, and scheming empires all threaten the country Patrician Marcus Venandus has sworn to defend using his wits, military strategy, and his small command of highly disciplined legionnaires.

This collection includes the first three books in the series: The Fire Islands, The Sea of Grass, and The Jeweled Hills.

Roman

I enjoyed the narrator William Hahn.

It has been a long time since I have listened or read a book set in the Roman times...
I found the characters and events are interesting. It was interesting to hear about the roman style legions, training, and combat .
I look forward to the next book

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this audio book, not my normal genre and I was surprised. The characters are well developed and the story is fast paced with interesting historical moments. The narration I thought was exceptional, Will Hahn really throws himself in to it and brings the whole thing to life. I'm not usually a fan of sound effects but those in this book are not in your face and add a little to the ambience. Highly recommended and I'm looking forward to listening to books 4-6.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest review.

Enjoyable

I received a review copy of this book. The characters and events are interesting and the narration is good. The roman style legions, training, and combat are all interesting, although the combat is focused on the tactical level, rather than from the perspective of a legion. However, all three stories in this book feel short. A lot could have been done in the build up of events and the actual combat and manoeuvring which is all resolved quickly, with the events of the next book being a complete change from the preceding books.

Brilliant

I have no words to describe the quality of the narrator which is really spectacular, thanks to that I can enjoy the story as if I were watching it live and direct, congratulations also to the author for his brilliant work.

Maybe it could be good

Sooo the audio quality drops massively after chapter 7 starts off okay but no one has mentioned that in the reviews that is a little odd but it makes it very hard to listen through back ground noise and sounds like the narrator is far away from the mic.
