Dr. Bill Creasy
About this listen
Mark is a Jew writing for a predominantly Gentile audience in Rome. Written during a period of intense persecution under the Roman emperor Nero in 64-68 B.C., Mark offers an urgent message for a community in crisis. With its fast start (“Beginning the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Son of God... as it is written in Isaiah the prophet”), Mark hits the ground running, and he doesn’t slow down until the final episode at the end, in which the women who see Jesus’ empty tomb say nothing, for they were terrified." Mark’s Gospel is a clarion call to action. Master story teller, Dr. Bill Creasy, sounds the trumpet!

Mark writes the gospel of Mark to the Roman elites during a time of intense Christian persecution. In a concise outline, he tells the story of Jesus, as an adult through to his death, as a call to action. Dr. Bill Creasy partners with Logos Bible Institute to present this series of lectures on the Bible. With years of experience as a professor, Dr. Creasy feels at home in front of a group. He takes a casual tone and adds his own modern analogies to make this lesson fun. You don't need to be a bible scholar to enjoy this smart series; the lectures are approachable for everyone.

Excellent bible study
Thoroughly enjoyed this comprehensive study of Mark's gospel. I learned a lot of interesting facts (example: I don't remember ever hearing before that Gethsemane means oil press, and that olives were grown on the Mount of Olives specifically for the purpose of providing oil to light the Temple). Dr Creasy is a captivating speaker and really brings the characters and events to life. I will be listening to other studies in this series.
