About this listen
Book 2 in the Treading Water Trilogy, Marking Time continues the story begun in Treading Water, as Clare Harrington begins a new life.
She's considered a miracle, but everything that's happened since she recovered from a three-year coma has been less than miraculous. Now left to grapple with the aftermath of a selfless decision, she is home from the hospital and trying to figure out what the next chapter in her miraculous recovery has in store for her.
Meanwhile, her 18-year-old daughter, Kate, a talented singer and songwriter, sets out to pursue her musical dreams in Nashville. Her parents have agreed to allow Kate to spend a year there, but they couldn't have anticipated Kate falling in love with a much older man. Her newly divorced parents are forced back together to confront their wayward daughter.
Spanning from Newport, Rhode Island,to Nashville, Tennessee, to Stowe, Vermont, Marking Time is a story of new beginnings and new loves.

another grate book in this ongoing series.
Marking time continues not long after treading water ended, therefor to get a full picture you really need to read these books in order.
Marking time tells Clare's story, she's just getting ready to leave hospital after her recovery from a 3-year coma, although she committed a selfless act by letting Jack go she's struggling to know where her life is going next. Due to her fradjile mental health she takes up her brothers offer to assist him with getting a house in stow vermont renovated to give herself a 3 month break to focus on her recovery. There she meets a group of friends who slowly help her get her life back on track including carpinter Aidan O'malley although there relationship gets off to a shakey start they soon start to realise they have feelings for each other. Aidan is also going through challenges within his own past and until meeting clare struggled to live life fully. I Love Clare and Aidan's story and found it was filled with heartbreak and hope.
Clare's teenage daughter Kate has been given permission to spend a year in nashvill in order to follow her dream of becoming a music star, the stipulation was she had to wait until she was 18 and if it does not work out come home and go to college as her mother and father wanted. While there she falls in love with Reid Matthews a friend of her father's who has been asked to take care of her while there. Due to the large age gap her parents don't approve and come together in order to confront there teenage daughter. While I do believe Reid and Kates love was genuain I did find it hard to get past the large age gap. At first I thought Reid might be looking to take advantage however when Kate first came on to him he did attempt to do the write thing and told her it was wrong. Although i don't like the age gap I do believe Kate and Reid did have genuain feelings for each other and i'm excited to see if there families will accept them when we revisit there story in book 4.
This was another amazing book in this series and i'm now looking forward to reading the next book Brandon O'malley and Daphoney's story. Won't say anymore on this one as don't want to give lots of spoilors away however this is well worth the read.
The first part of the book is very sad and heart breaking but the rest of it really picks up. Love this authors writing and love this series as much as the green mountain series which was my first introduction to this author.
