Lucas was an unassuming miller's son. Although loving and kind, he was no one of special note - until that fateful day. Come and join the good folk of the hamlet of Meadowfork in their struggles - both everyday and epic. There are wizards and things that go bump in the night. There are grim curses, secrets and sorrows, triumphs and tall tales, endearing oafs, hilarity, noble steeds, and villainous knaves. Everything from chivalry to chandlery as a new wizard finds his way! Set in the fantasy medieval barony of Westarbor.

It's a whimsical romp through a medieval barony and a coming-of-age story about a young wizard: two, in fact. Told with wry humor in narrative form, it deals with the travails of life in a low fantasy setting. It descends into grim realism in places, but always with overtones of optimism.
