Summary

They called him Bane the Bastard - though none said it to his face. Born of treachery, his name a curse, he grew up among the warriors of the Rigante. They valued his skills in war, but they feared the violence in his heart. And when, as a Wolfshead and Outlaw, he left Rigante lands, they breathed sighs of relief. But Bane would return, the destiny of the Rigante in his hands, the fate of the world resting on his skills with a blade.

Midnight Falcon continues the tale of the Rigante, which began in Sword in the Storm, and tells the epic story of Bane, the bastard son of Connavar the King, and his quest for vengeance in a world of blood, honour, betrayal and love.

Heroic Fantasy at its best

Great book! Great Story! Great Author! Great Narrator!

Gemmell's straightforward storytelling is well suited to the audiobook medium.

I have read all his books several times. Audio has enabled me to revisit them afresh.

Adjoah Ando is a first class storyteller. I would have given her performance 5* but I am not convinced she was the right choice purely and simply because all the main protaganists are men and her womans voice just didn't quite work for me.

stories like this...

... leave you yearning for more, in the first book I was taken a back a little by the narrator but by the gods, what a range, truly. had the fortune to meet DG once at a signing. his stories are epics, with the power to make you want to join the word (if you can deal with the mud and lack of internet of course)! another classic.

Amazing story, shame about the narrator

I recently listened to the first book and tried to persevere with this one, but I can’t even finish it. As soon as the attempt at a Welsh accent came in, after all the other accents thrown in for some reason, that was it for me. I love Gemmell and have read all his books, I was so excited when they came out on audible, but even I have my limits. Sadly, the Rigante series - which is excellent by the way - will not be staying in my library.

Who chose this narrator?!

Story great, but it’s been tough to enjoy this series when a predominantly male cast is voiced by a female doing a bad west-country English accent!
Why would anyone think it’s a good idea to use a woman for this?! It’s like choosing Mel Gibson as the voice for Bridget Jones!

Brilliant as usual!

For my first audio book I thought I'd go with my favourite author, it was hard at the begining listening to someone read it for me. But after a few minutes I realised how good she was with accents and the drama and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
