Fabulously Thrilling Romantic Suspense~Awesome🎧📚🎧

Kennedy L. Mitchell, a new to me author, just blew my mind with this thrilling romantic suspense. I am not quite sure how this is my first book by her, I can only say it definitely won’t be my last. She is a gifted author, I enjoyed her writing style, she created storylines that are interesting and original. This is the type of book, once you start you do not want to put it down because you need to know what happens next. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are complex and nicely developed. It was easy to fall in love with the two lead characters, Cas Mathews and Alta Johnson, each broken in their own way but perfectly broken for each other. Cas Mathews, former military, is working with the FBI, he and his partner profiler Chandler Peters head to Rocky Park National Park the killers last known location. Alta is the park ranger there, she suffers from PTSD after a traumatic incident 10 years earlier, she has quirks and dealing mechanisms that help her get thru her struggles. She is usually out of her comfort zone when new people come in her life but there was something about Cas that made her feel safe. The two hit it off and worked well together. Alta’s boss is not too happy with how well Alta and Cas get along, he had a thing for Alta but she never allowed anyone to get close to her. The serial killer is definitely in the area, clues are popping up and the team are looking for a lucky break to crack the case, but the killer is always one step ahead. This book is cleverly plotted, with plenty of drama, both personal and crime drama, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and hot romance. I admired Alta fierceness when it came to watching out and protecting the animals, wish she did the same for herself, I admired Cas for protectiveness of Alta. Kennedy L Mitchell does a great job of keeping on your toes trying to guess who the killer is, she also brings you to the edge of your seat at times. Thanks you for this awesome story, the emotional rollercoaster ride and an ending I never saw coming.

🎧📚🎧And for the wonderful narration, Teddy Hamilton and Maxine Mitchell are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They are awesome at portraying the characters, grasping each persona, playing the role with perfection, sounding believable and just as I picture them to sound. Teddy Hamilton’s Chas was badass, yet able to show his softer, more broken side when needed, Maxine Mitchell’s Alta was spot on too, beautifully broken and you could hear her determination to survive and not give in. Both nailed the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, they brought out all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

An intense thriller with a touch of love

I was expecting the usual ‘ex-military saves a girl and they fall in love’, but it was more than that. It was closer to a thriller. The suspense was gripping and there was enough twists and action that I was never bored. The little romantic drama was just a bonus.

It was quite gruesome though. Between Alta’s memory of rape and her subsequent paranoia, and the actual investigation–with its depiction of dead bodies–you have to be prepared for a gory and difficult read. Cas also suffers from PTSD and some of his past actions as a military are given a vivid visual. Mental health and violence are ever present in this book.

The investigation itself, with the hints, the conclusions, the suspects, etc. was riveting. The red herrings offered a couple of twists that kept the story interesting and surprising.

I couldn’t totally relate to the characters though. Alta was well defined, with a past, but also a present life, that made sense and made her human. Cas, on the other hand, besides the fact that he suffers from PTSD, was a bit two dimensional at times. But, even though he looked at first like your typical military alpha male, he had more nuances in the end, and I loved him in a relationship with Alta. The side characters were more fun, in my opinion.

Once again, there was an instant connection between Alta and Cas, and they basically fall in love without knowing much about each other. But there were a couple of scenes that were both cute and sexy, that gave more life to their relationship. I ended up loving them as a couple.

The narration was great, especially from the female narrator. All the nuances of every character were there. Tangible. Palpable. Several very emotional scenes were beautifully interpreted, and touched me.

An intense thriller with a touch of love.

Exciting! And great narration

I love crime dramas on TV and this book read out like one (I listened to the audiobook with Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton and they drew me into the book!). Cas and his partner for a case, Chandler (who I love and who is the hero for the next book!) team up with Alta, a ranger, to catch someone who is kidnapping women. The story is a rollercoaster ride, as they try to find the killer but also to protect Alta, who becomes a target. I loved how Cas and Alta were the rocks for each other, as they each had a difficult past (Alta's was horrific and as the author notes, there are likely some triggers). The cast was fantastic and I was following along trying to figure out who the kidnapper/killer was. There were twists and turns and overall, just a really great romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat.

I highly recommend the audiobook, by the way. Maxine Mitchell and Teddy Hamilton were awesome, as expected. They played all the different characters so well that I was totally immersed in the story

Loved it 🥰

Brilliant storytelling right from the get go. I was absolutely glued to me earbuds. Great twists and turns kept me guessing wrong. The fruity bits were 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and the narrators did a fabulous job. I’m straight into the next one now to find out about Chandler. I’m looking forward to it 😏😘

Action, Romance and Suspense - I loved it

Kennedy Mitchell is a new to me author, and one I've just straightaway one-clicked again. I straight up loved her writing, her story and her characters, well, apart from the small fact that Alta was so frustrating. She has issues, she’s scared and she has good reason to be, she does all these security checks, she gets panic attacks, she’s suspicious of everybody, and then she goes running headstrong into danger. It was a little frustrating at times. That said it was a great suspense. I adored Cas, he was the perfect alpha, and who better to narrate tough alpha Cas than Teddy Hamilton, he really does have the sexy authoritarian rumble down pat. Maxine Mitchell was great as Alta I’m giving it five stars because it was a thoroughly enjoyable, entertaining audio. Book 2 here I come.

A series that will grab your heart

Book 1 in a series wow what can I say. First one by Kennedy Michelle. But it won’t be my last. . The word building is great. The descriptions of the characters are on point .
This story is full of suspense, mystery and it will make you wonder what next .

Heroine is Birdie , hero is Cass.
Birdie is a park ranger . She gets caught in the mystery of who is killing women , is it a serial killer . Cass comes to the park with his partner Parker , they both are FBI agents.

Kennedy will throw you for a loop with the ending.

Maxine Michelle and Teddy Hamilton were great together. They will bring you into the story . The way they did each character you were able to tell by their tone

Sorry, but not this one

DNF - Contains Spoilers

The Guy sounds like Derek Zoolander and once I had the thought, I couldn't take him seriously and it was too distracting.

The main character has a poorly developed and inconsistent personality. She portrays a timid innocent one minute but then obsessively analyzing and lusting after the love interest another. Birdie is supposedly afraid that the FBI agent is going to read her too well which makes her feel vulnerable given her past. But less than 24 hours later and one, short meeting she feels at ease with him, and this false, instant kinship has sprouted - Eh?

It's not in keeping with the picture the author is trying to paint about her. She has this traumatic past and the main dude is just this creepy predator after checking out her background. What? He all but assaults her there and then after only a couple of awkward interactions that wouldn't really lead to that level of heat, especially given her past. It's almost like the author (or whoever edited it) decided to strip out the story/world/character building and just wanted to get the story moving to the sex parts

I couldn't get past these issues and if you like your smut, just that and not so precious about the actual story then hope your get further and enjoy it more than I did
