About this listen

Retired music teacher Susan Wiles thought she'd be content knitting baby blankets and volunteering at the local high school, but she was dead wrong. When her husband's best friend Tank is accused of a terrible crime, Susan puts her sleuthing skills into action, much to the chagrin of her husband and police detective daughter.

When a dead body is discovered in a construction site behind the school, the stakes quickly escalate. But before Susan can solve this new mystery and exonerate Tank, she finds herself dealing with personal and family issues that force her to realize that murder is secondary.

On the right path

I enjoyed this book. This is the second book in the Susan Wiles Schoolhouse Mystery series and although I did enjoy the first book, I think I liked this book more. The mystery was interesting and had several sub plots going on as well that were fun. The story is told by a number of characters as they either become suspects or help solve the murder. I think it worked well for this cosy mystery as it gave the author a chance to develop the characters making them seem more real. The murder does get solved but there is a cliff hanger at the very end, it doesn't effect the story but did make me think what no! I guess I will have to get the next book to find out.
Susan as a retired school teacher has plenty of time to knit a baby blanket for her first grandchild, that is until her husband gets a phone call to say that his best friend is being accused of sexual harassment against one of his students.Tank is suspended, while investigations are being carried out and then the unthinkable happens another girl comes forward. Could they be wrong about there friend? Susan doesn't think so and while volunteering at the library she tries to find out more about the girls that are accusing him. When a body is found on the school grounds apparently run over by a bulldozer things look really bad for there friend when the identity is revealed. Did she die because of the allegations? Or the trouble she caused her classmates? And why is a teacher acting so jumpy? There is also the man that seems to be connected to the construction workers that is hanging around the school, what does he want? With Lynette the police detective in charge of the investigation and also Susan's and daughter so close to her she due date can they solve the murder before the baby arrives? The night of the baby shower the case takes a turn in direction when a another body is found. Is it the same killer? Or are they even connected? There is only one way to find out as it means Susan needs to put down her needles and do some real investigating.
This is the same narrator as the first book and I must have gotten use to her because I didn't find the accents that she used quite so strange or annoying this time round.
