Summary

An escape to the country...ends in death.

Summer 1933. Fresh from the discovery that she has family living nearby, Kitty Underhay has packed her carpet bag, commandeered a chambermaid and set off on a visit to stately Enderley Hall. She’s looking forward to getting to know her relatives, as well as the assembled group of house guests. But when elderly Nanny Thoms is found dead at the bottom of the stairs after papers of national importance are stolen, Kitty quickly learns that Muffy the dog’s muddy paws on her hemline are the least of her problems.

Calling on ex-army captain Matthew Bryant for assistance, Kitty begins to puzzle out the mystery. And when more shocking murders follow, the stakes are raised for the daring duo as never before. Which of the guests stand to gain from the theft of the documents? And which, as the week progresses, stand to lose their lives?

A charming cozy historical murder mystery that fans of Agatha Christie, T.E. Kinsey and Lee Strauss won’t be able to put down!

Another brilliant book

I really do love this 6 book series. Kitty, sweet and innocent. Matt, slightly damaged from the Great War. Grams and her group of 'galls' - just lovely stories with no offence at all.

Typical cosy murder!

Really enjoyed this second book in the series. It's very light and fluffy (no harrowing, dark stuff here!). Has all the ingredients of a country house murder, glamour, romance, atmosphere and a whole variety of interesting characters.
My only criticism is that, as with the first story, there is some very strange pronunciation by the narrator e.g.' Lumbargo' for 'Lumbago'. Does nobody check at production level?
Good distraction from more serious times.........

nice story

A bit too much padding out with speculation on who did what, but no big deal. looking forward to seeing things develop through the series.

Engaging cost mystery

Enjoyable cost murder maternity an interesting cast of characters and the customary above average body count! Enjoyable narration.
Onwards to book 3!

Murder at Enderley Hall

This is the second book of a murder mystery staring Kitty Underhay, as she gently questions the occupants to find who dune it. Read brilliantly again by Alex Tregear.

Brilliant sequel to Murder and The Dolphin Hotel. I am hooked and can't wait to listen to Murder at the Playhouse.

I do hope Matt and Kitty get married 😍

Pronunciation

I only wish the narrator would pronounce the Devon places properly as well as a few other things, like lumbago!
Overall it doesn’t really effect the story, it’s just a bit frustrating.
