Story
When a mistaken identity murder happens at her sister’s bookstore in Cottonwood Springs, Brigid has no choice. She has to find the person who intended to murder her sister. Not everyone liked her sister, Fiona. Several people could have done it, including the competing bookstore owner, the religious fanatic, the psychic, and her landlady. Now all Brigid has to do is figure out if it was one of them or just a random event. Sometimes it’s a good thing to have a 125-pound Newfoundland dog for a pet, particularly when the creek runs deep and fast.

Summary
A troubled woman. A prayer. A murder in a church. An orphaned daughter.
When she moved back to Cottonwood Springs after a divorce and the publishing company she was working for went bankrupt, Brigid never thought she’d have a ready-made teenage daughter, a huge Newfoundland dog, and a hunky neighbor who wants to get to know her better, a lot better.
But first she has to solve Maggie’s murder. When a woman has stolen money and someone else’s husband, finding her murderer is not everyone’s top priority.

The series just gets better!
The Cottonwood books are my favorite ones by Diane Ormond and they just seem to get better. My only complaint is since when do people living outside of Denver sound like they’re from Boston. This narrator had a very big Boston accent and I had to keep reminding myself they weren’t in Boston they were in Colorado and although she had a lovely voice I just thought she should’ve either read it without her accent or someone else should’ve read it. Having said that I will say I love this book I read it on Kindle and now listening to the audible version I should’ve stuck with Kindle. The narrator could put a whole new face on the book and unfortunately this one would’ve been perfect with a different narrator. Please let me in the right the narrator had a lovely voice it’s not unlikable but as I know that they live in Colorado and she has a Boston accent it just kept throwing me off.

Sins of the past catch up and make a great book
I loved this book. I have listened to a few books by this author, so know the characters well and it was brilliant to go back to the beginning and find out what happened to Holly's mother. Holly is one of the central characters for this author and has even started to get her own series, so it was great to find out how Holly ends up living with Brigid. You can listen to the books in any order and the enjoyment it's ruined if you jump around because they are stand alone stories. The story starts with the murder and then goes back in time giving you the motives for the suspects before getting cleverly solved. The author always provides you with plenty of suspects to keep you guessing and with a strong family gone between the characters it is a great series to sit back and enjoy.
Maggie might have done some terrible things and hurt a lot of people, the worst being done to her daughter, when she was drunk or high but now she is sober she would like to make amends. She has found solace in the church and the friendship of good friends. Unfortunately someone doesn't think she should get forgiveness and she is killed. Holly with no other family around turns to the last person who was kind to her for help. Brigid lets the teenager move in with her and at the same time she assists the sheriff in tracking down alibis for the most likely suspects. Can Brigid solve the murder and give Holly the comfort she needs?
I liked the narrator she spoke slowly and clearly so you had no problems understanding her.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

When Brigid meets Holly
Murder in the Church is the 2nd in Dianne Harman’s Cottonwood Springs mystery series. In this book, Brigid meets Maggie, a recovering addict, and her teenage daughter Holly. The troubled woman is found strangled in a church. Although she was turning her life around, Maggie had made a lot of enemies. Brigid helps the Sheriff sort through the suspects and they solve the crime. Unhappy story for Maggie, but a happy ending. The narration by Anna Wheeler is great! She brings all the character to life!

Always enjoyable
I'm trying to make my way through this series. I've read a few at the end, it's nice to see how these people came together in the beginning. As usual I enjoyed the story. I listened on Audible. The narrator did a great job. Dianne's books are easy to read, easy to follow and always enjoyable. I will continue to work on this series and move on to another series. I am enjoying my commute to work so much more these days.

Murder at the church
I’m enjoying this series just as much as the Cedar Bay series! I enjoyed the characters and the story. Brigid was hoping for a quiet lifestyle when she came back to Cottonwood Springs. But instead she finds herself involved with a murder. And somehow she is involved in trying to figure out who the murderer is! There are lots of suspects and motives. The story has some humor, a bookstore, and a little bit of romance.

Entertaining cozy mystery
A sweet, heart-warming, and heart-breaking cozy mystery. Addiction is a problem not only for the addict, but for family and friends. Loved the accent of the narrator. I know, she would say, "what accent?" Who pakked the ca? Nothing to do with the story line, but just as a southern accent can be charming, so was this one. Thanks to the author for providing a copy.

death brings bounty- sad
So many potential killers who felt wronged by Maggie that it was soul shattering. I found it ironic that the town came together after her death to help her daughter. Why could no one help before she was killed???? Not such a moral group after all!!!! Just judgy!!! I had the wrong person as the killer. I did cry a bit at the stupidity of it all. Sad that Holly profited from her mom's murder!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

Entertaining cozy mystery
I enjoyed listening to Murder at the Church, and since I started with books later in the series, it was nice to go back to book 2 and have more backstory. I enjoyed trying to figure out the “whodunit” along with Brigid. I like these shorter stories, so I can finish them in an evening. The narrator wasn’t my favorite, but I still enjoyed the story.
