About this listen

How do you escape a past you can't remember?

Kate Sullivan has a beautiful home, a job she loves and a handsome fiancé: all she'd ever dreamed of since getting sober and painstakingly piecing her life back together.

But a chance encounter with her old best friend Becky threatens Kate's newfound and fragile happiness. Kate remembers nothing of their last drunken night out, the night Becky broke off their friendship without warning or explanation.

With Becky back in her life, Kate is desperate to make amends for the past. For the closure she craves, Kate needs to know what she did that ruined everything. But what if the truth is worse than Kate could have imagined?

Easily the best book I’ve read in years. 10/10 all the way through! Incredible!

Okay

An okay read. I must admit that I wanted to clobber the main character several times. The bit I couldn't understand is why she had never asked her father about her mother's death. Because she thought her mother had killed herself, she made assumptions that weren't true when her life could have been so different if she only had the facts.

Excellent

I really enjoyed this book. It’s one of those stories that you think you know the answers, however it’s not what you think! Very gripping , couldn’t stop listening to it. Would recommend

Thoroughly enjoyable, great twist

Despite some negative reviews I decided to give this one a go and I am so glad I did. I loved the narrator and really enjoyed the story. I thought I had got the ‘secret’ about half way through, but there was an unexpected twist. I also thought the book provided a great insight into addiction.

A handbook of emotional incontinence and self pity

This is yet another book which seems to have escaped any form of proof reading before publication. The subject matter, a self pitying ex alcoholic who is also an illiterate English teacher is risible and not a little predictable. The author really needs to check with a dictionary if she is not sure what a word means. That said her assault on the English language can be quite amusing. " Becky watches like an animal in the hedgerow at twilight", "Her lids twitch, opening and closing as her eyes dart around." Her kitten heels click in disappointment.", Her mind is twisting and growing like thorny brambles on a time lapse"!
That said the poor narrator almost manages to make a silk purse out of a sows ear but not quite.
Don't waste your money
