Sweet romance, with an interesting twist.
Jake and Ashly were high school sweethearts. Sure they were “it” for each other, they decide to marry at the young age of 20. Jake decides he’s not ready for this kind of commitment, and leaves Ashly at the altar.
Five years later, Ashly is not over the loss of Jake. Her heart’s still guarded and her radar is always up. Her mother’s passing leaves her further unmoored. Ashly discovers that her inheritance has a string attached- she will inherit her mother’s fortune only if she goes on a life-changing vacation around the world… with Jake.
Jake wants the vacation and the money…. But he wants Ashly more. Her walls are still up and she keeps pushing him back, but the trip is part of the package.
I loved the descriptions of the vacation spots, and the banter was realistic as the former couple grapples with what they may mean to each other now. I really enjoyed this story, and can’t wait to get to book 2 to find out the rest.
