Summary

As they fight a war of good and evil in our world, the Fairy Tales need a protector.

All I wanted to do was take a break from college to check out LegendFest, some good ol' cosplay, and maybe find a lady to hit it off with. You never know, right?

My life took a new direction, though, when I found out myths like Red Riding Hood are real, and they’re in an ongoing war against evil to save us all. More than that, they are being hunted, mistaken as humanity's enemy. They need a mortal to serve as their protector, someone to keep them out of harm's way while leading the battle against the likes of the Big Bad Wolf, Baba Yaga, and other evil legends.

Now, I am that protector.

It's a tough job, but it's everything I've ever dreamed of. Even more so when Red and some of the other ladies show interest in me in more ways than just my ability to wield a magic blade.

Note: It gets saucy. We have fun on the streets and even more in the sheets, so you might not want to hear my tale if sexy fun scares you more than witches and ghouls. If you're a fan of Once Upon a Time or Fables/Wolf Among Us but also enjoy harem and the spice of life, this book's for you.

Had potential to be good but wasn't

Really disappointed with this. There was real potential for a great story but the writer just seemed to want to focus on the main character emptying his balls.

Now I'm no prude and enjoy a good sex scene but this seems to he the main focus and just gets boring, repetitive and just distracts from the actual story.

I am glad it was free but won't be bothering with anymore in the series.

Mediocre story, unnecessarily crude

Interesting concept, but the execution didn't grip me. The erotic stuff didn't really add anything and was more of a crude distraction than something that fit the story. Better stories of this kind exists here.

Pretty much porn

Has some funny bits to it, but it is almost all about sex, I would have like more action or depth to the story.

It's a shame there wasn't more plot

This book has too much smut even for a harem story and it is just written weirdly as well as being a bit crass. The characters are going at it so much that it can be diffficult keeping track of the plot. The protagonist meets a woman and within hours (story time, not audiobook time) she goes from shy to the following quote before they ride a motorbike into an enemy base:

"She grabbed my hand, moved it to her crotch and said "In case we get shot, I want to feel that with my last breath.""

Then we get to:

"I barely know you but in my mind we've already fucked at least a dozen times."

And the entire story only covers a few days! It could be argued as being very, very sex positive but really the main character is just a bit of a Gary Stu.

Then there is the levelling system whereby people in the real world who discover myths/legends can apparently choose a class and "level up" by defeating enemies. This is why the book is tagged as LitRPG but it was so bizarre that I think what little plot there is would be better without it.

The language is uninspired too. Cock and pussy are used almost exclusively and get very repetitive, very quickly. I'm guessing this was self published.

From a narration standpoint, 1x sounds unnatural. I think the book recording was slowed down to boost the runtime before it was added to the Plus Catalogue. I usually listen at roughly normal speed but on this I found 1.5x to be about the right mark for the book to sound natural.

Then there is a preview of the next book at the end and that is 45 minutes!! So rather than a 7 hour book you get 6 hours which at a decent speed is nearer 4. And at the end point we haven't reached a proper ending at all, no victory, no final task just a step into the next book.

Luckily this was free otherwise I'd be returning it. It's a shame because if the plot had been explored a bit more there were some potentially good ideas in here.

Shame about only one Voice actor & MC Mr Dick out!

Im sure he has a name but his most memorable trait is dick flashing so Mr Dick out it is. A story trying to be carried by tits a dick and a lot of suggestiveness and only one voice actor who you guessed it is a guy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I mean why even bother with this type of story without a suggestive voice for the ladies that's all this would have had going for it though its poor on anything which is not lithe. Not a terrible setup which is where the Story star comes from but execution is poor and everything is so focused on Mr Dick out and he really isn't that interesting obviously a template for the reader to project on but he doesn't even do that well enough as he is to scatter brained at least for me. Yet another of the free audio's that I'm trying that still seems very expensive!
