About this listen
New Frontiers, Inc., is leading the drive to conquer space. Overcoming opposition from powerful and jealous nations is only the beginning.
What of the alien society that left those mysterious beacons in the asteroid belt? They’re still here, and they’re not happy....
If you liked John Ringo’s Troy Rising trilogy, you’ll enjoy Jack Knapp’s New Frontiers series.
"...much more action, skulduggery, etc. Plenty of new tech, lots of spying and back door deals...we may be on the eve of WWIII. Try these, you’ll love ‘em." - Kay McNeely
"Knapp has a way of keeping you hooked. I couldn’t put down book 1 or book 2 until I’d finished. He can’t release book 3 fast enough!" - CB
"If you love hard science fiction that is current and believable then this is it!" - Allen

Much better !
Something in the first book of this series didn’t feel right but on the this one the second the author Jack L. Knapp have really improved !
In a way it feels like a lot of truth of the way things are happening now.
Beside the fiction America is getting weaker as patriotism is being replaced by greed and American companies move to different countries to pay less taxes and wagers like Apple, Amazon and for the first time even Space travel and business is in privet hands, also China is getting ahead and into space way faster then the U.S. but in the book the puppet president says no more and the action continues after the Russian’s already failed.
I’ll say no more not to give up the whole story but much more is going on.
The only reason I’ve said as much is because of how book two is so similar to todays world.
Narration by Tom Lemnon also got much better and was excellently done.
The first book was not as easy as this one for me to recommend and hopefully the rest will even get better and better!
RECOMMENDED.
Oded Ostfeld.

Yikes! The accents!
Lets get the bad bit out of the way first: In the first book Tom Lennon used one voice for all characters so you often didn't know who had said what. In this book there are characters from nations other than the USA so there are "accents". Tom Lennon's versions of French, German, Russian, Australian and Chinese accents are ghastly to say the least. I'm not actually sure he attempted those four accents but that is what they might have been. They bear little if any resemblance to the actual accents. However, on the positive side, you can tell when a foreign character is talking.
The story is still good. Solid, stolid, predictable, pseudo-technical much like the first book. Nothing to write home about but also not terrible.
The discovery at the end is a good hook into the third book.
I received a free copy of this book and chose to write a review.

Running the first interplanetary corporation
Having bootstrapped the astro transport business by way of radioactive waste hauling there are more ships and more threats. The narration is still easy to listen to, albeit there's more foreign accents which aren't his strongest points. There's more players and the stakes are much higher as international politics starts turning ugly as they bid for control of the technology. I like these kind of what if stories and this is a fair example of the breed. I finished this story genuinely interested in what happens next.

Story once again ruined by narration
I don’t understand how the narrator was allowed to record something like it was done in the 1960’s again. It made getting into the book a barrier which should never be the case.
