About this listen
James Hook is a child who only wants to grow up.
When he meets Peter Pan, a boy who loves to pretend and is intent on never becoming a man, James decides he could try being a child - at least briefly. James joins Peter Pan on a holiday to Neverland, a place of adventure created by children's dreams, but Neverland is not for the faint of heart. Soon James finds himself longing for home, determined that he is destined to be a man. But Peter refuses to take him back, leaving James trapped in a world just beyond the one he loves. A world where children are to never grow up.
But grow up he does.
And thus begins the epic adventure of a Lost Boy and a pirate.
This story isn't about Peter Pan; it's about the boy whose life he stole. It's about a man in a world that hates men. It's about the feared Captain James Hook and his passionate quest to kill the Pan, an impossible feat in a magical land where everyone loves Peter Pan.
Except one.

not a kids book
I presumed that being a version of Peter Pan, just from Hooks perspective it was a kids book just not very young kids because of the length, but judging by some of the content its a adults book, has if I had kids I wouldn't want them to read (or listen) about.
It was interesting enough to hear the story from Hooks point of view but it makes you feel sorry for Hook and think that Peter Pan was the Villain and Hook was the good guy.
it also changes the original book because in this Tiger Lilly is a adult when it comes to the bit where the original book comes in & Peter comes across as a evil bully not a forgetful cheeky fun loving boy that just wants fun.
guess that's me I am definitely a hero girl rather than the fashionable villain girl & hates my heroes being turn into anything but the good guys I believe them to be.
but it does give one message we quite often make our own nemesis just by a lack of thought to another person.
I can't complain too much it was free which & the fact it was Peter Pan I listened to it. Guess I am disappointed has it wasn't the fun entertaining I thought it was.

totally different take on Peter pan, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
being a huge fan of Peter pan, I am working my way through all relevant stories and this one was a really good concept-making Peter the villain. The content became quite adult which shocked me, and I am glad that I hadn't decided to listen with my child, maybe that should be something that is warned of, just in case? Overall, I massively enjoyed the content and the performance, and couldn't stop listening.
