Summary

As one of al-Qaeda's most respected bomb-makers, Aimen Dean rubbed shoulders with the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks and swore allegiance to Osama bin Laden himself.

As a double agent at the heart of al-Qaeda's chemical weapons program, he foiled attacks on civilians and saved countless lives, brushing with death so often that his handlers began to call him their spy with nine lives.

This is the story of how a young Muslim, determined to defend his faith, found himself fighting on the wrong side - and his fateful decision to work undercover for his sworn enemy. From the killing fields of Bosnia to the training camps of Afghanistan, from running money and equipment in Britain to dodging barrel bombs in Syria, we discover what life is like inside the global jihad, and what it will take to stop it once and for all.

Incredible

A must read.

Informative and interesting.

Exciting but without hyperbole.

Simple language on a very complicated topic.

Exceptional first hand account of the Jihad ideology

An exceptional first hand account from someone who has lived the life of a Jihad and fought for something bigger than himself. Some may argue that what he done was wrong but having listened to this book, and others like it, I get the distinct impression that Aimen was devout and merely wanted to contribute to the war in an effort to protect his brothers and sister - it was the corrupt and evil that perverted the honourable Muslims intentions.

Listen to this and understand that it’s not simply black and white good and bad but a complex world of ideology.

Brilliant!

Great book, balanced and in-depth view of the current issues we are experiencing in the Middle East.

Great book, balanced and in-depth view of the current issues we are experiencing in the Middle East in light of history and personal experience.

Aimen should now do an in-depth analysis of the Syrian conflict.

Fascinating story.

The narrator was a weird choice. Odd American accent who put on creepy British accents. Would have preferred the author who has a great speaking voice.

Nine Lives

I never expected this to be as good of a listen as it was. I was gripped from the start to finish. It has also give me a completely different outlook on some of the world's most modern conflicts. Trust me you won't regret it.

An exceptional story.

This story has to be true for the simple reason that it would not be credible as a work of fiction.

The author tells his life story as a Jihadi and then as an Intelligence source with considerable empathy for all sides.l, even if he did work for the Chinese Government against the Uighurs.

This book is also a very valuable insight into the thinking behind radicalisation, the challenges the West face and the importance of prophecy in Islamic fundamentalism.

Well worth listening to.
