This is my favourite Portia Macintosh story.
I’ve listened to 4 now, and I enjoyed the first 3, but found them a little predictable and, to be honest, a bit samey. But this one is so much better.
The story kept me guessing. I suspected I knew what was going to happen, but was never truly convinced I was right. Okay, if you’ve seen the movie Made of Honour, then there’s lots of bits you’ll recognise, but then there are only so many romance film/story scenarios that can be rehashed.
The characters are funny and relatable, I really liked Poppy and identified with a lot of the stuff she goes through.
The performance is really good, I like this narrator, and she’s done a lot of the other Portia Macintosh novels, so she feels familiar too.
If, like me, you listened to the Plus One Pact (because it was included in the membership) and then thought about giving another of Portia’s books a go, then I highly recommend this one.

PORTIA MACINTOSH + KAREN CASS = Great 4🌟🌟🌟🌟
I love Portia Macintosh books 📚 they are always funny, brilliant and well written.
I normally give 5 Star's but this book TRIGGERED me with pregnancy loss /baby loss/miscarriage and that made me feel sad, that it brought up my own heartache and experience.
That aside, the writing was brilliant as usual with a few twists and Chicklit at it's best!
I love how the story ran alongside each other, one in the past and one in the present.
I believe in love, soulmates and destiny. Some people are definitely made for each other and will always find their way back to each other because that is what Real love does.
I love Portia Macintosh books and I always look forward to listening to them especially with Karen Cass as the narrator, she is definitely one of my favourite narrators.
I would definitely recommend listening to this book but I would add a trigger warning for Miscarriage. It is still worth a credit even though I managed too get this book on a buy one get one free 😍 👍

Gorgeous and funny
gorgeous narration and wonderful story line as per usual. Really liked how it addressed the issue of how friendships and relationships can change as we get older and how we accidentally get consumed by things that distract us from what is most important. as usual this is done with such care and hilariously by the author.

Not my cup of tea
I’ve been on a rom-com kick lately and found these books by Portia MacIntosh. For the most part I’ve really loved them! I enjoyed Faking it, Will they Won’t They, Honeymoon for one. I felt like this story lacked something and I can’t put my finger on it. I didn’t actively dislike the characters but I didn’t really connect with them either. Also, it got a little heavy for my liking in the middle with family deaths and infertility. I listen to these books to escape the heavy realities of life and this one kinda bummed me out. I hope the other books are like the 3 I did enjoy and less like this one.

Portia MacIntosh is delightful
If you want to read delightful, optimistic stories, Portia MacIntosh is your author. Her books have clever, interesting storylines and the characters are respectful of each other. We’ve all read books where women are pitted against women and the men are jerks. Portia’s characters are overall rooting for each other. And the women are independent and don’t let the male characters determine their outcome. Hooray for not bowing to the lowest common denominator and using intelligence in your books! I always feel better reading these books.
