About this listen
From USA Today best-selling author A. M. Madden comes a second-chance, surrogate romance.
Helping people is what I do best. I’ve made a career around it and dedicated my adult life to it. So, when my two best friends decided to start a family but weren’t able to conceive, it made total sense for me to become their surrogate.
Once I pleaded my case, and they finally agreed, I moved from New Jersey to Florida, excited for a much-needed change. But no one could’ve predicted crossing paths with the love of my life, the one who’d left years earlier, the one man I never got over.
Ryder Carter.
Despite how much we’d loved one another, life happened and circumstances pulled us apart. But he was back now, in Florida, single and still as gorgeous as ever. Even better, he wanted to pick up where we had left off. He wanted me.
Ryder appearing when he did couldn’t have come at a worse time. Because, even as just a surrogate, I had to wonder: Would he still want me when he learned I was pregnant with another man’s baby? Would he wait out the nine months to be with me? And even more important, how could I ask him to?
Not Turning Back is meant for a mature listening audience.

Just talk to each other
Rianna and Ryder are the love of each other’s life who because not communicating they breakup when Ryder gets a promotion which forces him to move across the country. About two years later they see each other again but Rianna has made a choice to help her best friends have a child by being a surrogate. Rianna and Ryder are perfect for each other but their communication is frustrating. I was frustrated listening to this book just wanting these characters to do better at communicating. Will their lack of communication prevent their HEA. Loved this story and I loved Rianna and Ryder this was the first time I have listened to a book from this author looking forward reading more from this author. I received this book for a honest review.

Riana & Ryder!
AM Madden always writes such wonderful, warm books. This second chance romance came to me just when I needed it! Riana is at a crossroads. Unemployed and looking for a change, she decides to do something for her best friends while settling down. Be their surrogate. Who would of thought when she moves close to Cooper and Ricky that she would bump into the one that got away! Ryder too has moved to Florida and seeing Riana again is a sign. He too feels she was the one. But now with baggage on his side, and a situation most men would run from, we get to see what this couple is really made of! Will Ryder be able to deal with Riana carrying someone else's child? Is there love strong enough to endure the emotional turmoil? Madden takes us into their lives and lets us experience it all. I love it! From pregnancy hormones to financial setbacks, we get to see just how selfless and true love can be. Fantastic characters and story, this is a great part of the Breaking the Rules series.
Narrated by Leanne Woodward, I am in for an amazing performance. I love her voice and know each time I hear her that I am going to enjoy it. She finds the personality of each character and gives them the perfect voice. A treat for your ears!

A pleasant listen, and a good story
It’s okay, I didn’t need my heart. At least, there was also a lot of good feelings, romance and friendship. But with such a premise, I expected some angst, and I got it.
Right at the beginning, in the prologue, my heart broke for them. I loved that this part wasn’t just a flashback to explain why they weren’t together anymore, but that it also hinted at the problems they would be facing later on. Thankfully, the first few chapters were more positive, introducing Riana’s ‘after Ryder’ life and the people around her.
That’s also when the surrogacy is introduced. The idea of motherhood is a theme in the book, from the surrogate not-mother to the mother who sacrifices everything for her child. Fatherhood, through the soon-to-be fathers in the gay couple and Ryder’s resistance, is also a recurrent element. It felt like a lot of aspects of both were treated, making parenthood the main theme of the story.
The romance, though a bit fast for my taste, was sexy and cute. Ryder’s guilt-ridden devotion and the changes he makes in his life to nurse his relationship with Riana may have been too much at times, but were nice to read nonetheless–so far from the alpha males so often seen in romance.
The narration was good, though I wasn’t a fan of the narrator’s male voice. Sometimes, it lacked a bit of energy that I felt was needed. But it still a pleasant listen, and a good story.
