Is someone out there? Watching? Waiting?
Bestselling novelist Erin Moran had the perfect life until now.
After ten years of blissful marriage, learning of her husband’s infidelity, Erin’s world is ripped apart leaving her devastated. When a misdirected birthday gift forces her to confront her husband’s affair, her life, marriage and career unravel. Spiralling on a whirlwind of hurt, under intense pressure from her agent to rewrite her rejected latest novel, and with only her faithful dog for companionship, Erin seeks sanctuary and solace on an idyllic tidal island on the West Coast of Scotland.
What starts out as an escape, with the hope of creating a new life, soon becomes something far more sinister. When her car inexplicably breaks down, stranded, cut off from the mainland twice a day by the tides, terrified, alone and imprisoned on the island, her imagination runs wild. Random, unexplained events force her to question her sanity.

Couldn't turn it off!!
I hadn't heard of these guys before but when I stumbled across Keirons page, the book cover caught my eye straight away! The folks gifted me an Audible copy and I delved in straight away.
Erin,a successful author has to rewrite her latest book, which wasn't up to par,and decides to do this rewrite on a remote island off Scotland. This island isn't any old island. Its HER Island. 'Scalaig Island' was gifted to her by her husband when they were happily married.
She recently found out he's been cheating so she dumped him and moved here for the next few months until the book is done.
Since arriving here Erins phone has died, her car broke down so she's very much cut off from the outside world...her publisher and ex-husband included. She's also noticed items missing from her house following local men calling to he with supplies. Small personal items that no one else would miss,so this irks her. Not to mention a young backpacker that went missing in these parts a few years back also adds to the uneasiness of the island.
She is too trusting a person, she knows this...but in a place where she knows no one really, and is so cut off,she should be more guarded. She finds this out a little too late.
When things come to a head and the truth reveals its nasty self, will Erin even make it off this Island?
A thrilling atmospheric story told in great detail but with easy to follow language...that just had me sitting glued,as if I was witnessing it all myself. Great characters, most likeable, some not. I was seeing the badness in people where there was none..it was just how the protagonist was experiencing folks, but all is revealed later on.

An atmospheric thrilling listen!
Having already read the book a couple of years ago, I was looking forward to listening to the audiobook.
It didn’t disappoint!
The narrator had the perfect tone to add to the story and there were a few moments where I held my breath as she had built the tension up so well!
The book was great, but I do think that the audio adds more depth.
Strongly recommended.
