About this listen
The body was positioned so that the train would neatly obliterate its head and hands. Dressed in a homeless man's clothes with empty pockets, it might easily be passed off as an unfortunate John Doe. But Joe Gunther has a knack for knowing when things don't quite add up, and the math in this case is all kinds of wrong.
A toxic waste dumping scheme, a stabbing, and a whole lot of state politics quickly complicate matters further. If Occam's razor were applied to Gunther's caseload, how many incisions would it make?

First Class Narrator
Tom Taylorson's performance is first class throughout the series but it is unfortunate that it is spoilt at times by a slightlly intrusive 'murmur' in the background (poor recording)

Liked this book much better than previous one
I liked this book because the story content didn’t follow the previous books slightly repetitive theme. Thankfully there were were no ladders, quarries, anywhere where the hapless Jo could fall, drop his radio, belt, gun , flashlight and he didn’t lose as many suspects during a chase as he normally does. Although he was totally crazy telling a suspect about checking his DNA. The suspect disappeared. surprise surprise. I hated the way he refers to Gail as “ the woman he lived with” .he used her home as a hotel turned up when he was in his morbid moods, had Sex ate dinner but didn’t want to commit. She cared for him, helped him was always by his side when he woke up in hospital a very common occurrence. He is a totally selfish man. I loved all members of his team especially Sammy and Willie. They are what keeps me reading this series of books, they and a good story keep me captive. I hope there is another book following this to be my next listen.

Okay
When you’re on book ten there really isn’t much to say that’s different. Although I found this meandered too much. It went into the structure of policing and politics too much with information which may or may not be factual but I felt it was unnecessary, perhaps Occam’s Razor should have been applied in the editing stage! Gale, although talented and ambitious I think is written in one dimension which is odd because Sammy, whose part is generally smaller, is a much more rounded character.

Very good
These Joe Gunther stories are very good but could be a shorter, I have to say the narrator is brilliant at doing voices.

It’s all in the telling
Much as I appreciate the convoluted crimes that Joe Gunther solves, the narrator, Tom Taylorson, makes this series. The characters are like family this far into the series.

It's ok you don't need to listen to the last hour
Someone needs to tell the author this is supposed to be a crime book. All the local politics stuff became so mind numbing in the end i finished the book but felt like the book should have finished an hour before it did at least .
I don't often write reviews but felt that this might save others from wasting time .
