Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Drifters in search of work, George and simple-minded friend Lennie have nothing in the world except each other - and a dream. A dream that one day they will have some land of their own. Eventually they find work on a ranch, but their hopes are doomed as Lennie - struggling against extreme cruelty, misunderstanding and jealousy - becomes a victim of his own strength.

Tackling universal themes, friendship and a shared vision, and giving a voice to America's lonely and dispossessed, Of Mice and Men remains Steinbeck's most popular work.

what a story

what a story.. a love story.. a story about hope.. the human condition..they had no chance, because of elements in the personality.. life is so hard if you are very poor..the dream shatters.. certainly worth reading and listening.. it will stay with me

Really enjoyable

I really enjoyed this book, short but powerful. It was read beautifully too, the scene was set instantly. After a long book it was just what was needed

Classic Tale of the human condition

Fantastically written with a vivid descriptive nature and read just same by the narrator, creating a picture was very easy

Aged like a fine wine

Like many comments, I too read this whilst at school. i remember the discussions about this issue's raised in this book and although some of it still rings true today , I think a more modern outlook paints this book in a very different light. it's absolutely fantastic, but also harrowing. Still arguably one of the best endings in Literature.
