Summary

The new novel from Sunday Times best-selling author Susan Lewis.

Your life can change in a heartbeat....

Vivienne Shager has it all. A high-flying job. A beautiful apartment. Friends whose lives are as perfect as her own. But on the afternoon of her 27th birthday, Vivi has a heart attack.

Now Vivi’s life shrinks back to how it began, as she moves back to the small seaside town she grew up in. With her time running out, there is one thing she wants to know the truth about.

Some secrets are best left in the past....

Thirty years earlier, Shelley’s family home, Deerwood farm, bursts full of love and happiness. But one family member has hidden a secret for all these years. Until Vivi comes home demanding answers, and it takes just a moment to unravel the lie at their heart of their lives.

Worth a listen but too long

An Interesting and enjoyable story.
It could have been improved by confident editing but an emotional romp all the same.

I didn't enjoy this book

I didn't enjoy this book I think it was a confusing book that I struggled to get to grips with. I did however remind me to let everyone of my family know that I want to be a donor if ever there was the opportunity to be one.

A nice listen

Although enjoyable it was not a “psychological thriller” by any stretch of the imagination. Well written and narrated though, just not what I was expecting.

Real tears...

I loved this book.
I loved how it made you think one thing whilst secretly hoping it wouldn't be true.
I loved that it wasn't a "and they all lived happily ever after"
I loved the emotions that this book evoked.

Lovely story

A lovely story. For some people, the author may do a little too much hard sell on the moral stuff, but it is causes I am passionate about and I liked it. On the whole, seemed to be fairly accurate, too, although I am not entirely sure how accurate the ending is. I will definitely look out for other books by the same author.

Beautifully written, wonderfully read

A superb story of love and heartache, in no way “cheesy”, just a great story with meaning and read with so much feeling. I was so sad when it ended. Susan Lewis is a terrific writer, I’m so glad I found these books, a world away from my usual crime novels but equally as enthralling.

Beautifully Emotive

This story is so powerful that it makes me want to scream about being an organ donor. I'm so glad we now have 'opt out' instead of 'opt in'. I fell in love with the characters and *SEMI SPOILER* balled my eyes out at the end. It was slow to start with, but by the end I couldn't put it down.

Great Narrators and a well written fast paced book.

I don’t know what to say after just finishing this one. I’d never read a Susan Lewis before and if you’re new to her too I’d describe her as an upmarket Danielle Steel. A good story with a mystery, heartache (in more ways than one!) a moving and uplifting love story, and an education about heart disease and treatment and transplants, so not for those who are going through medical trauma at the moment as it’s not an easy read in places. The narrators were particularly good which always enhances an audiobook. Worth a listen if you like a well crafted, fast paced novel when you’ve got time to enjoy it all in one day!!
