About this listen
The president's son is dying. Terrorists claim to have the only cure.
When a private plane whisks CDC epidemiologist Madeline Hamilton to Washington, DC, for an urgent medical symposium, she knows something significant is underway - but she doesn’t expect to face the most disturbing medical mystery of her career. A debilitating neurological toxin has stricken the children of several political families, and one of them is the son of US President Anna Moreland.
With the lives of children on the line, Madeline assembles a team of medical experts. The investigation takes a horrifying turn when she starts receiving communications from the terrorists, who want to engage in a deadly political game.
Desperate to find the perpetrators and a cure, the White House recruits FBI anti-terror specialist Quinn Traynor to run a parallel investigation. As the teenagers start dying and the answers seem no closer, Madeline and Quinn fight to prevail before President Moreland is forced to make an impossible choice: give in to the terrorists’ demands, or let her only child succumb to an agonizing death.
This is the second book in the phenomenal FBI and CDC Thriller series by USA Today best-selling author Jenifer Ruff. It can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Only One Cure
I’ve listened to other books from this pairing and enjoyed them so I picked this up too. I wasn’t disappointed!
It’s a great story that pulls you in from the start and Stephanie is the perfect narrator for this book with great pacing and character voices.
I’m really hoping there’s more from this series to come.
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

Only one book you need to get this summer.
Oh wow, I haven't discovered another author that can write like Jenifer Ruff can. This book gripped you from the very first word and boy did it take you on a ride until the very end. As you can tell I really enjoyed this book. It contained a strong cast of characters and a good plot that had you sat on the edge of your seat, wondering what the out come would be. With everything going on in the world at the moment this book covered the subject of a pandemic very well and it also contained some lighter moments that will make you smile without lossing the seriousness of the subject. This is book two and even though it is a stand alone book I would recommend book one "Only wrong once" because it introduces you to the two main characters and let's face it if you don't you are missing out on what is turning out to be an excellent series.that you won't want to miss.
Madeline plans to go house hunting are put on hold when she gets a phone call asking her to drop everything and be at the airport asap. With very little information she turns up to find the Presidents son and a number of his friends have gone down with an illness that the doctors can't identify and she has been made head of the task force that have the job of finding a cure. Her first job, after requesting her team is to find out how they became infected and why some are worse than others. The teens have just can back from a school trip to Mexico but was the infection closer to home? Then she gets a phone call asking her to choose from three words, this leads to two dead bodies and one still alive. It seems somebody has his hands on a cure and the infection was a planned attack. Madeline is joined by Quinn Traynor as the investigation shifts gears and with the caller playing games with the teenagers lives it is a race again time to find a cure. The United states don't negotiate with terrorist but what does that mean for a group of sick children and will the terrorists take it any further?
I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job of building up the tension and suspense, as well as some great voices for the characters.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
