Summary

A man is dead.

The killer is a woman.

But what secrets lie beneath the surface - so dark that a man has to die?

Women are rarely cold-blooded killers. But when famous philanthropist Hugo Fletcher is found dead, there is no doubt in anybody's mind that the killer is a woman. And it is clear from the precision of the planning that this was no crime of passion. It was an execution.

The victim was revered the world over for his charitable work with trafficked Eastern European prostitutes, and as at least one of these girls is missing, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Douglas is certain that there has to be a connection.

But nothing is as it appears on the surface. A web of complex relationships is gradually revealed and it seems that everybody has something to hide. As each horrific secret is exposed, Tom Douglas begins to realise that this is much more than a simple murder case. And he has a terrible dilemma to face - whether to punish the guilty, or protect the innocent.

brilliant

this author was new to me but what a find.. after a 16 year membership I must have hundreds of Audible stories in my library.and this book rates amongst the very best if not the best. I was engaged from the very start and couldn't stop listening as the story unfolded. what a writer , brilliant plot, rounded believable characters and a reader who did the anthem full justice. I'm sad its finished but will certainly buying other titles by a master story teller.

Seriously?

Struggled through for 9 hours and couldn't stand another minute of this silly and badly written rubbish. Should have believed the 1-star amazon reviews and saved myself the time and the credit.

Cannot listen to it!

I really cannot listen to this story and was so disappointed. The narration was terrible for this book.I bought it because I got a few from the £1 sale, & then thought I needed the first one in
the series, thinking they carry on with the same story.
I listened down to chapter 12 and could not hear any more.

Brilliant!!

This book kept me gripped from start to finish. The mounting sense of dread and horror was sustained right up until all the disturbing facts had finally been revealed. This was definitely a book that would have you questionning your own sensibilities, and what you would do in the same situation!

Really good but...

Really entertaining title but very hard to read. I understand the main character is being manipulated but she's written in an almost willfully ignorant style, it's just not believable. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Good narration

Good story and told beautifully. Lots of twists and turns, with a dark twist. Recommended
