About this listen

Despatches from the secret world behind the headlines. Former SAS legend Chris Ryan brings you his seventeenth novel, filled with his trademark action, thrills and inside knowledge. Osama Bin Laden is dead. The President of the United States knows it. The world knows it. And SAS hero Joe Mansfield knows it. He was on the ground in Pakistan when it happened. He saw Seal Team 6 go in, and he saw them extract with their grisly cargo. He was in the right place at the right time. Or maybe, the wrong place at the wrong time. Because now, somebody wants Joe dead, and they're willing to do anything to make it happen.

His world is violently dismantled. His family is targeted, his reputation destroyed. And as a mysterious and ruthless enemy plans a devastating terror attack on both sides of the Atlantic, Joe knows this: his only chance of survival is to find out what happened in Bin Laden's compound the night the Americans went in. But an unseen, menacing power has footprints it needs to cover. And it will stop at nothing to prevent him uncovering the sinister truth.

One of the better Chris Ryan books

It is definitely worth a listen. The last few hours were particularly good. They had me gripped. I enjoyed it.

Abridged version missing plot essentials

I usually enjoy Ryan's books and Osama is no exception - its easy listening action, great for the morning motorway commute to the office. I must admit though that I'm not really a fan of abridged versions of books, I feel cheated when they end within a couple of hours. In the case of Obama, the book was pretty good, fast paced and easy to digest, but there were a couple of plot essentials that just weren't there (or maybe I missed them...but unlikley given the relatively short length of the book) leaving me wondering "where did that come from?" or "How did 2+2=5?" . For such a popular author as Ryan, I recommend that the publisher records the whole book...a longer listen, no plot holes and happier fans. On the plus side Keeble's narration was pretty good and kept me engaged.
