Mesmerising and haunting, Emma Flint's Other Women is a devastating story of fantasy, obsession inspired by a murder that took place almost a hundred years ago.

'Bloody brilliant' – Dinah Jefferies, author of The Missing Sister
'Compelling, twisty, and wonderfully suspenseful' – Claire Fuller, author of Unsettled Ground

It is 1923 and a country is in mourning. Thousands of husbands, fathers, sons and sweethearts were lost in the war, millions more returned home wounded and forever changed.

Beatrice Cade is an orphan, unmarried and childless. After her brother's death, she decides to make a new life for herself. She takes a room in a Bloomsbury ladies’ club and a job in the City. But just when her new world is starting to take shape, a fleeting encounter threatens to ruin everything.

Kate Ryan is an ordinary wife and mother. Since the end of the war, she has managed to build an enviable life with her husband and young daughter. From the outside, they seem like a normal, happy family. But when two policemen knock on Kate's door and jeopardize the facade Kate has created, she knows what she has to do to protect the people she loves. And suddenly, two women who never should have met are connected for ever . . .

Irresistibly engrossing.

"Other Women" is the most engrossing book I have read in a long, long time. Emma Flint presents a tale as old as time, a love triangle, and yet every word feels fresh and new and the characters so real that you find yourself understanding their very obviously bad decisions. Extremely enjoyable, fascinating and most recommended to absolutely everyone.

Riveting

I so enjoyed this book. It was very well written. Giving both women an unbiased voice. I liked the different voices for both women. It was easier to keep track of who was talking. Understanding how social etiquette’s in the 1920s and the complex social rules I found I could identify with both women and understand their thinking and behaviour. A very gripping tale

Based on a true story. Excellent listen.

Based on a True Story from 1924. I hadn’t heard of it before (bit before my time!) but fascinating and very interesting insight in to that time. Pleased I gave it a listen and gives an insight in to the wife and of course the woman victims life in those times which was so male dominated that he could well have been let go. I am sure you will enjoy the story as well as being based on true events.

Deep and moving story.

It's difficult to decide whether to hug the main character or tell her to get her head straight. I was immersed in her life and although her mindset is a common one, it's difficult not to scream silently. Hard to put down once you get into it.

An Excellent read.

I loved this book and I listened on audible which made the story come alive even more.

It is about an independent intelligent woman Beatrice, who we find is working in London as a secretary and bookeeper in 1929. During her work, she meets a salesman Thomas Ryan, who is married and there is a connection.

This book is Bea's journey but also with Kate, Ryans wife.

I really enjoyed the chapters written in Bea's and Kates experiences. It shows two strong women and thier relationship with the same man.

I would definately recommed this novel, and now I'm off to read Emma Flints first novel.
