Summary

The leader of one of South Florida's most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs has been put to death by lethal injection. Days later, his family and friends should be picking up the pieces, moving on. Instead they've been catapulted into a world so twisted and dangerous that even the most ruthless among them would be stunned to discover the tangled web of deception not only on the dangerous streets of South Florida but all the way to the top.

In this gripping follow-up novel to Nine Minutes, Beth Flynn takes listeners from the sun-drenched flatlands of 1950s Central Florida to the vivid tropical heat of Fort Lauderdale to the halls of Florida's death row as we finally learn the gritty backstory of Jason "Grizz" Talbot and the secret he spent his life trying to conceal.

Fantastic - loved the performance

I've been putting off reading this book for a while as I heard it was a cliffie, and I try not to intentionally do cliffhangers. That said, it was been burning a hole in my tbr and I finally relented. Thank goodness I did! I really really enjoyed book 1, Nine Minutes, and this book runs parallel with Nine Minutes. Following the dramatic ending in book 1, we see the aftermath of the revelations, and book 2 answers many questions, we have a greater insight into Tommy 'Grunt' and his past. I to Grizz and his past and into the events that happened before, during and after Ginning's kidnapping. We hear the story of Nine Minutes from the 1950's when Grizz was a young boy, through to 2000 after the time that Grizz was executed, all from the perspectives of Griff, Grunt, Ginny, Mo and the Authorities, along with a few more people involved along the way. This book answers so many questions and outs light on so many of the happiness surrounding Grizz, it does however leave you asking a few more. I am so looking forward to reading book 3, A Gift of Time, I just hope I'm not going to be a blubbering mess whilst doing so.

Utterly Brilliant

If you were thinking Nine Minutes was a one off, you were wrong. The story continues as do the twists and turns and of course the secrets and lies. Will the truth come out. Well you just need to read and find out. Loved this as much as the first on. Am looking forward to diving into A Gift of Time. Beth I think I will be squeezing you harder next time ❤️

Best trilogy ever

Loved the twists and turns. Normally order dual narration but this narrator does an excellent job with each character. Hope she writes more novels soon.

Ridiculously implausible story

I enjoyed the first book and actually the first half of this one. But then it starts to go down so many rabbit holes - each more implausible than the last and just became a hard slog. I was so relieved to finish it !

How not to write a sequel

I was so looking forward the the second book . The first book, nine minutes is one of the best books that I have read. It was thought provoking because none of the characters were appealing although the story was riveting. This book could have worked if the author had decided to re tell the story through a couple of other characters eyes. Unfortunately the decision to jump around the time line with so many people using an ' it made me remember when' technique was not only unsuccessful but also confusing and irritating. I have also taken a dislike to the female lead who really needs a good shaking. Such a pity. The second book needs to be simplified as there are too many twists and the story has now become implausible to say the least
