About this listen
The rules say we can't touch each other, but rules were made to be broken.
It's been seven years since our plane crash landed. What started as 47 passengers has quickly dwindled to 32, and now that Christa is pregnant we risk losing her too.
If she had followed the rules none of this would have happened. Men and women are not to be alone together, prohibited to touch and sex is the ultimate taboo. I followed the rules, why couldn't she?
I am determined to save her, even if it means leaving camp in pursuit of civilization. Even if it means travelling with Cade, the only man I've ever been tempted by.
The climate I can endure, the terrain, survivable, but the rules? They are one forbidden touch from being broken forever.

Had potential
I struggle to finish this. The blurb sucked me in, and while de story seems interesting, te execution was poor.
the reason behind the no sex between couples rules are unbelievable, but with a little suspense of disbelief I could get over. But then the same reason applies for them not explore or try to leave the island.
And it doesn't seem they live a bad life, or are struggling, or anything. There is little to no description of how things works at their camp. And the main characters, when confronted with things they didn't see for 7 seven, act like they had access to it all along. So when they finally encounter civilation, it's anti-climetic.
The romance is bland. We don't know much, barely anything, about Cade to connect with him and to see why Lena is so in love with him. It looks more like an obsession, something she wants because he is available and it's "taboo".
The taboo part is only taboo because the group forbid any interaction between men and women, so it's forbidden. But since reason is ludacris and not well developed, I can't see as taboo.
This is the first time I listen to Kelly Huston narration and I'm in love. Her voice is so suiting, so soft, it's calming. She does all the right pauses, does different voices for different characters. I really like it I think I wouldn't like Lena if she wasn't narrating, because the character is a little annoying.

3 1/2 ⭐️
I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.
3 1/2 ⭐️
I’m a little mixed with this book, it’s definitely enjoyable but it’s lacking something. I actually really liked for the most part at least Lena’s character, sometimes she seemed a little naive but mostly she is sensible and strong. Cade however I found at times frustrating at times. The plot was pretty interesting with the plane crash and being stuck on the island so long with so many rules but some rules seemed a little... extreme. I’m pretty sure if I was on an island for 6 years I’d be telling people to crack on not no sexy times. 🤣 Also no one scouted the island in the six years? Really? As my mother would say it’s in the storyline! So moving on... once it gets into the main plot it grips you quite well and as it’s just under 5 hours easy enough to listen to in one sitting and keep you entertained. It definitely could do with an epilogue to round the whole story up too. It’s a shame I have so many niggles on this book or it would be rated higher.
