Cysters are doing it for themselves.

I received this book via a free promo code and this is my voluntary review.

I was diagnosed with PCOS about... 12 years ago now, in my early 20s. I had mild symptoms at first, periods started becoming irregular and I began gaining some weight which I had all attributed to work stress, and poor lifestyle due to work/life balance craziness. Ultimately it led to more severe symptoms and increased times of absent periods then flipped with periods so bad I'd almost end up in hospital. My mental health began to suffer as I later began losing my hair and the fun battle with the scales continued for most of my 20s and into my early 30s.

I WISH I'd had this book back then. Most of my research was done independently and managing my symptoms was a learn as I go process, most of my GPs didn't even understand the condition and the "right" things taught at Slimming clubs and personal trainers meal plans etc simply didn't work. In fact, sometimes it had the opposite results. Victoria Wright is the perfect choice to narrate this book, which I am so glad was written in a way that is reassuring and motivating, focusing quite a bit on reminding women with PCOS that these things we experience are NORMAL, that we have a tribe, and to practise self-care and that mantra about accepting that this is not your entire life, it's just something we live with as part of our lives now is so important, because women who have experienced it know how tiring and how much of a battle it can be.

If I was approached by a family member (as this is likely, I inherited the condition from my mother, and grandmother) or a friend I would definitely get them this book. Even for parents of young teens who have been diagnosed, the tips are so so helpful and this advice is DIFFICULT to find all in one place.

I was seeking a recipe book and this turned out to be so much more.
