She raised her children as a single mother, supporting the family both as a registered nurse and a real estate broker. She enjoyed the flexibility, challenge, and freedom the diverse careers afforded their family. Along the way, she returned to school to obtain an MS in management and certification in healthcare compliance. She and her life partner, Dennis, enjoy entertaining and preparing great food for friends and family, as well as recently entering a new world of ballroom dancing.
For the last decade, MJ has worked as a nurse manager for a leading healthcare organization that serves Medicaid and Medicare members. She sees firsthand, both at work and in her personal life, the many chronic disease and mobility issues experienced by family and friends entering middle age and older. MJ is not only passionate about fitness, wellness, and great food, but is also an avid mountain biker. She is hard-driving and fearless on her mountain bike and has the scars to prove it, having experienced a few unfortunate mishaps in the mountains of Moab, Utah, and locally at Alafia State Park in Lithia, Florida. But other than a few mostly-amnesic memories, she remains unscathed and enthralled with mountain biking, along with sporting a full-face helmet for any unintended consequences along the way.
MJ hopes to continue her active lifestyle well into her later years by maintaining a high level of fitness and good health through the natural and wholesome lifestyle of paleo and fasting.
