Good story, excellent narration

A good cozy mystery. I liked the characters but found the story a bit short and some of the dialogue did not quite work for me, however the narration by Kelly-Anne Smith is excellent which compensates. This is my first book by this author and there are a lot more in the series. I will be happy to listen to more.

Story Brilliant, Performance way too quick

I love the story, I read all the books - its very easy to read however the narrator is reading too quickly. I have had to put 0.75 speed just to be able to process what the narrator is saying.

A Miils and Boon of a detective story?

I am not sure what to think of this one. The main problem is the narration which gets in the way of the story. Its breathless and gushy with awful characterisations (the police detective Maker is so dreadful as to be almost unlistenable). I think the story if very light and fluffy might have been enjoyable but due to the above I cant make a value judgment. If the sequel has the same narrator I wont be buying it.

Enjoyed story but not narration

I enjoyed the story, nice relaxing tale. However the narrator, has she heard of punctuation? A computer could have done a better job. Thank goodness the rest of the series is read by someone else or I would just give up. Afraid if you are new to the series you may have to suffer through, as this book introduces the main characters.
On a more positive note the book is great fun and is typical Agatha Frost. A merging of comedy and mystery, all wrapped up in what is known as, " cosy".

Neat little story

I had listened to the second book first so went back to see how it all came about.

Although this book is short, it is action packed with characters and potential suspects. And I got to find out how Jessie came in the picture.

The cop is a bit of an idiot but turns out ok. The voices are different for the same people in the two different books, which was a bit annoying.

One Pancake, Two Corpses

This is an okay story of a cafe owner who discovers a dead body or two and unmasks a murderer. Personally, I found the narration to be too fast at times and the ‘male’ voice was laughable. It was an enjoyable story, but nothing special.

Narrator

The book was enjoyable escapism, but I couldn't enjoy it because of the poor narration.

Just awful. Can’t find a good word to say

The book is slow and ponderous. It’s sort of set up as quaint and cosy, but fails to be either.
Narrator is bland and monotone.
Just awful. One of the worst I’ve downloaded.
