About this listen
An untrained witch. An orphan. A teenager looking for her place in the world that’s a lot larger than she ever realized….
Sixteen-year-old Mirella’s life changes forever when a werewolf sniffs her out one night. Turns out that all the weird incidents that happened over the years when Mirella got upset or angry is actually because she has magic. She’s a witch, and she’s been recruited for the Magical Hunters Academy.
There’s no way she’ll ever turn that down, but then she learns that the school literally trains all sorts of magical beings to be hunters. No surprise there, but there are good paranormal creatures and evil ones.
Ones who need to be hunted.
Some who need to be slayed.
When Mirella’s one human friend, a fellow orphan, and the orphanage is targeted by one of the evil paranormal creatures, Mirella is willing to do whatever it takes to hunt that bastard, but is she strong enough to handle this mission?

A great mix of paranormal creatures
This was a fun take on the academy style books and untroduced a whole range of paranormal and mythical creatures that others don't. The premise was interesting and the characters engaging and had me speeding through the book to find out what happened next, I definately want to get into the next book, the narration was good.

Nice Easy Listen To Chill Out To
If you love paranormal stories but find often they are mentally intense and you really need to concentrate to keep up with the story this book is a nice change - it still has a great story and plenty of paranormal content but it's not so intense. Yes, you can if you don't listen carefully miss something important but easy enough to rewind but mentally its no heavy, its the perfect way to enjoy the genre yet not feel as if you have done a mental workout after listening to it. Its easy on the ears and the mind, so perfect to lay back close your eyes and just let the story wash over you, no input from you needed.
Its is aimed, I presume at young adults but an old crone like me enjoyed it and suitable for all.
There is a story that makes sense for all I say its an easy listen and the characters are rounded out enough to give them body and even though the main character is a 16-year-old girl who yes does have all the self-doubts of that age. she didn't as in so many books with under 25s as main characters have me yelling at her for her continuous self-pity or selfishness at not seeing other persons point of view, not as totally self-centred as many authors portray this age group. She has those traits but not to the point that I am snarling at the selfishness of the character or feel the author has decided all in this age group is a 'snowflake' as so many in real life are called.
The Narrator Mercedes Lewis is a perfect choice for the story - she gives life to all the cast just as I personally feel they would be if really alive. She really brings the book to life, I could not imagine anyone else being as good for this story.
I was given this book free in the hope I would review it whether I found it good or bad and I will only ever write an honest review.
This book is definitely one you would want in your library for those times you just want a good story that is an easy listen.

Good Academy book.
I received this book free for an honest review.
Mirella life changes when a wolf shifter sniffs her out and invites her to the Magical Hunters Academy.
Up until now 16 year old Mirella has lived in an orphanage and strange things have happened around her that she can’t explain that is until she gets to the MHA and she finds out she’s a witch. She will be trained at the MHA to search out the dark supernaturals that put humans at risk and eliminate them. Whilst training Mirella finds out she’s not a normal witch but an Arcane witch and that both her parents were the same although she still doesn’t know how they died she now has a last name Sharp.
Mirella still doesn’t like to be told what to do and another witch Valentina decides to befriend Mirella but ends up getting her magic suspended and Mirella can’t figure out Valentines motive. Valentina then tells Mirella her parents were murdered but doesn’t know by who or why. Although this book is aimed at YA I enjoyed it I like Academy books and this was a good no sex involved story and not my usual RH academy series which was quite refreshing 🙂
Mercedes Lewis did a good job narrating.
